Ground Beef Grand Style

I had some veggies in the freezer.  It’s my own blend of mixed vegetables.  I use frozen veggies for the childcare kids when fresh are out of season or I on those days when I’m needing to get to the grocery store.  Rarely do the kids eat a whole package so I take the leftovers and throw them into a bag and put them in the freezer.  A few days later we have a different veggie and again there are leftovers so I throw them in the same bag.

I tried to think of a recipe I could make so I could use up the veggies.  I thought of this recipe.  I started making it by memory only to realize that it didn’t actually have veggies in it.   Well…it’s time a for a change up!

Here I have the hamburger (I used 2 pounds), the onion, cream cheese, Cream of Chicken soup (I was out of mushroom)  I didn’t end up using the ketchup or the milk as this time in my “veggie bag” I had put leftover tomato soup.  (Yes…this is how I cook all the time)

From there is was time time for biscuits.  I always make mine from scratch….
Find the recipe for them HERE.
Into the oven it went.  I raised my temperature to 400.  I kept it in th oven for the same amount of time.

It came out looking like this….
All dished up and ready to eat.

Hubby really likes this.  Craig does too.  I’ve given it to the childcare kiddos and surprisingly, they even do pretty good with it.

In the past I have made up everything except the biscuits and kept it in the refrigerator for a couple of days.  Then when I am going to use it, I make the biscuits and pop it in the oven.  It’s great for a make ahead meal.

As far as the veggies go, I’ll always add some veggies from now on.  It’s even better with veggies.

  1. I make something like this but put tater tots on the top. I almost made it tonight for supper. Mine calls for mixed veggies but I make them on the side because my son doesn’t like veggies of any kind. :) pam

  2. Great idea – I have changed my cooking some with out the childcare kids but this looks delish. I often make my own white sauce in place of the soup. Butter – flour equal amounts 1/4 cup cook till bubbly – add a cup and half of chicken stock or water and chicken bullion or milk with the bullion and cook till thick. Use in place of the soup. With your amt. of meat you may need to make a bigger batch of white sauce.

I would do a half pound of meat with just the two of us eating and would probably have leftovers.

  3. I also make biscuits from scratch. Since “Loving Life on the End of a Dirt Road” gave the recipe for her biscuits (makes a huge batch!) I am all over them! They are terrific and one batch goes a long way for my group. (I started following Dirt Road from your sidebar! :))
