What I’m Working On…

It’s been busy here…my girls have been working on projects and I have been too.  I just took a quilt out of the quilt machine that will be featured on Moda Bake Shop sometime in the next month or so.  I’ve been working on my “My Red Heaven” quilt as a leader and ender project.  (If you aren’t familiar with leaders and enders, you can learn more about them here)  Slowly but surely that quilt will get done.  All the Puss in the Corner blocks are done.  Just a few more stars, and I’ll have the blocks finished.

After I sold my AccuQuilt GO!, I invested some of the money in new rulers.  The rulers take less space and work better with my method of saving scraps.  When our daughter Kelli was home and grabbed the tumbler ruler, my 2 1/2″ bucket and started cutting.

The ruler was a breeze to use.   In under an hour she had this little table runner put together.

If you save your scraps in Bonnie Hunter’s scrap saving system of 2 1/2″ and 3 1/2″ strips, you might like this ruler too.  The ruler allows users to cut tumblers from 2 1/2″ to 6″ strips and all 1/2″ increments in between.

My daughter Kayla made this rug from my “sliver” box.  You can hop over to Kayla’s blog and learn how to make it…

That’s what has been happening around here.  I am SO tempted to just take a day to clean and reorganize my sewing room.  Since I have sold my AccuQuilt GO! and sold some other things on Yard Sales, I have a couple empty cupboards.  Some the things that aren’t in cupboards now, needs to be put in cupboards.  I just want to eliminate some clutter….Spring does that to me…

  1. I’m glad that you mentioned that Tumbler ruler. I won a Go a while ago and honestly don’t use it. I started cutting out Tumblers with it but think that I’d like the ruler much better!

  2. I have been eyeing that ruler…just need to get a few things done around here. I am thinking it would make some fast quilts this summer when I am busy with kids activities and have little time to sew.

  3. Hello! I enjoyed your blog today. I too like that ruler, and it would be another great ender and leader project. I also LOVE the fact you have the wounded warrior project gadget up at the top! I was a burn nurse in my younger days, so photos of our “wounded warriors” tug at my heartstrings. It’s a great organization.

  4. Could you check and see if I can cut tumbler pieces the same size as the Go! cut them? I was just about to send you anther stack of fabric to cut me a few more tumblers to finish this top. If the ruler cuts the same size I will order me one. If it doesn’t I will cut me a template.
After serious discussions with my husband about whether I would really use the Go! we decided I probably would not get my moneys worth out of it. We decided it was really restrictive in what it will do and since I like to rotary cut I will continue that route until the RA makes it impossible. Hopefully that time will never come.
I still have a bag full of scraps for you and your daughter but I too have been bit by the spring cleaning bug. Maybe it will be even larger by the time I finish. :)
