Today I’m writing in hopes of clearing up the confusion on our Plus Fun quilt. We showed the quilt to you a bit ago. We told you that you could find it in this issue of McCalls Quilt Quilts.
Well it’s come to our attention that there was an error in the pattern. I’ve gotten a couple emails from readers about it…I thought I had it figured out and didn’t.
What happens when we submit a quilt is that very rough directions are sent and the publisher writes them how they want them.
Well the confusion is over the size of the squares and the size of the blocks. I dug the quilt out. I got my ruler out and my final answer is this…the squares are 2″ cut and 1 1/2″ finished.
The block finishes in the quilt at 4 1/2″.
I apologizes for the confusion….I am sorry I didn’t dig the quilt out quicker and get it all answered.
There you have it…
This quilt was so fun to make. I hope the instruction error doesn’t discourage you from making the quilt.
It is on my want to list!!!!
Thanks for the update. I liked that quilt as soon as I saw it. It’s on my bucket list!
Thank you Jo, I’m going to write the information in my magazine right now. I have your quilt flagged to make in 2017.
Jo, I’ve seen so many plus quilts and didn’t really understand why they were so popular. I really like yours and plan to make it. I’ve been saving scraps for years without a plan, but now I know what they’re for. This may start as a leader/ender project, but I don’t know if I can resist working on it more and getting it finished. Thanks for the great quilt.
Thanks Jo! I love this quilt. So, now I can use up scraps that are a bit smaller!
I also read their instructions but knew the magazine had to be wrong. I am no math whiz but I knew that if you used 2.5 inch squares, you would have a 6.5 inch block and a huge quilt. A lot bigger than their measurements. I figured someone would catch the error.
Thanks Jo. I loved this quilt as soon as I saw it. I studied your photos and the size on the pattern and did the math so I could start my blocks before the magazine came out. I picked up the magazine but hadn’t looked at it yet until I read this post. I have my color blocks done and working on the neutrals. Thanks again for a wonderfully fun quick pattern. Oh and I made the correction in my magazine.
I love this plus quilt. I’m planning on doing the mystery quilt also. It will be my first Bonnie Hunter quilt. I’m so excited!. I don’t have much of a stash, so have to go fabric shopping too. I’ll be watching for your mystery quilting. I’m sure I’ll need all the help I can get.
