Kelli’s Paper Clip Quilting Tip

When Kelli was home yesterday finishing up her Hawkeye Baby Quilt, she also brought along this project and a little organization tip.

Purchase over-sized paper clips to keep fabric together.  For the quilt she is working on (which will be revealed at a later date) she needs two sets of three 60 degree angles sew together.  When she lays the quilt out, each “block” needs to be in a different rows, yet touching.  By using the over-sized paper clips, it allows her to pin the seams that need to be sewn and still keep the two together.

In the past, when I did something like this, I would just put another pin through it all.  Put no matter how hard I tried, I would get in a hurry and pull the wrong pin making me have to re pin.

If you look closely at the photo, the oversized paper clips are to the left.  They hold the fabric together nicely.  The small ones work too, just not as well.  The over-sized paper clips came from Wal-mart.  I added them to my shopping list as I am going to make the same quilt and know they’ll come in handy.
