You might remember sometime back I went to an auction and there were vintage quilts and vintage quilt tops there.  Here’s a peak at the quilts…
I was so surprised with how many there were.
I debated on bidding….I don’t need any more quilts but I knew Kalissa wanted some for decorating purposes. I also knew that some of you might like some so I bought a few. I am offering them here on the blog today via an auction.
Here’s the guidelines:
Bids must be entered in the comment section. PLEASE WRITE THE NAME OF THE ITEM, THE ITEM NUMBER AND THEN THE AMOUNT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY. If you are the winner of the bid, the postage amount will be added on to your ending bid price. You can pay via Paypal. I will also accept personal check but check will have to clear before merchandise is sent. Bidding will close at 5pm Central Time on Monday. I will send a confirmation email to the winning bidder later in the day on Monday. Then hopefully bids can be paid and I can package the items up and get them in the mail as soon as possible. If you do bid please watch your email so we can take care of the correspondence efficiently.
On to the bidding.
Item #1:Â Red and White Feathered Star
Cost plus postage of $17
76 1/2″ x 79 1/2″
This is in good used shape for a vintage quilt. I don’t see any structure issues.
The top and the bottom star on the left side are either faded or the reds aren’t exactly the same.
Folded, no one would ever know.
Item #2:Â Blue and White Quilt
Cost plus postage of $17
65 x 83″
This is needs a little attention.
I saw one spot that needs a mending.
This has some fade damage that goes through the center of the quilt.
Over time the batting has deteriorated.
Even with the defects, this still would look great in a display cabinet with other vintage quilts.
Item #3:Â Double Wedding Ring with Ruffle
Cost plus postage of $17
52″ x 71″ for the center of the top. A ruffle is attached that has a 16″ drop. This was designed to be on a single bed and have an attached ruffle.
This one is in VERY good shape. The photo makes it look like it’s faded. That is not that way in person. It’s different fabrics.
These two pieces are included. I thought they were shams but I think they were meant to be on night stands by the bed. They could easily be made into shams.
I saw no flaws or stains on any pieces of Item #3.
Item #4:
Cost plus postage of $17
67″ x 69 1/2″
This one is structurally in very good shape.
The white has turned grayish from “bleeding” of the blue fabric. I didn’t try to wash it or use a color catcher.  Folded, the discolor could be avoided.
Item #5: Double Wedding Ring TOP ONLY-CURVED EDGE
Cost plus postage of $17
74″ x 89″
This is a curved edge Double Wedding Ring -TOP ONLY. This is in good shape and could easily be quilted and used.
The rings are wider than some double wedding ring quilts.
Item #6:Â Double Wedding Ring- STRAIGHT EDGE
Cost plus postage of $17
76″ x 95″
This Double Wedding Ring is a TOP ONLY with a STRAIGHT EDGE. The could easily be quilted and used.
There is one spot at the top that has a stain. I did not try to get it removed.
Item #7:Â Lot of Vintage Linens
Cost plus postage of $17
These lot of linens are all slightly imperfect. There might be a small stain. There might be a pulled thread in the embroidery. Each has something “imperfect” about it. They would be great for a crafter who makes things from vintage linens. I counted there are 82 pieces in the lot. The piano scarf at the front of the picture is a beauty. I has a small stain though.
…same with this amazing doily. Â
I bought so many boxes of linens that I’m not taking the time to clean these. I am sure some could be cleaned and used…If not that, they would be AWESOME for crafting.
Item #8:Â Lot of Vintage Linens
Cost plus postage of $14
These lot of linens are all slightly imperfect. There might be a small stain. There might be a pulled thread in the embroidery. Each has something “imperfect” about it. They would be great for a crafter who makes things from vintage linens. I counted there are 51 pieces in the lot
These are all nice, but stained as well. There is at least one tatted piece in the bunch. Â
As with the lot before, I’m sure some could be cleaned and saved. I’m simply not taking the time.
Item #9:Â Embroidered Baby Quilt
Cost plus postage of $14
35″ x 57″
This is light yellow in color. The picture make is look off white but is really is a soft yellow.
The embroidery is wonderful. I’m sure it would make a wonderful baby gift. It doesn’t appear to ever have been washed.
That’s it for items. Nine is about as many as I ever want to handle in one auction. It’s actually difficult to keep the bidders organized as often the email address and names are conflicting. I’m happy to do it though. I’ve heard from so many of you that items like these aren’t available in your area. Thanks for following along and happy bidding.
