Working on Kelli’s Quilt

This is Kelli’s quilt that I am working on.  It was in her UFO box.

She made it a long time ago. We are finally just getting it quilted.  I would wonder how long it will take her to put the binding on, but I know she will get to this one sooner than the last one.  She is donating this for a benefit.

I am hoping to get a quilt of my own on the quilting frame today.

  1. I love this quilt and you did a great job on the quilting. I have a question. Do you baste all around the quilt before quilting or how do you keep the edges from getting caught or curled up? Thanks in advance.

    1. I don’t baste the whole quilt down at once. I baste up each side as roll the quilt forward. That lets me run off the edge and I don’t catch and have it turn over. When I bought my machine, that is what the gal who taught me suggested and it has worked really well. Once I get to where the bottom is revealed, I sew along that edge too. I think it’s easier that way.

  2. Beautiful quilt!! Someday my dream is to have a long arm machine. I have hand quilted a baby quilt out of necessity. It was fun to learn, although I still have a lot to learn. I mostly tie my quilts.
