Where We’re Published: Something Borrowed, Something Blue

At the end of February a blog reader had asked if we ever had that double wedding ring quilt published.  It took a bit but it’s featured in the latest issue.  It’s just hitting the news stands now as I’ve had emails from readers telling me they just got their issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.

This is the cover …It’s the June 2018 issue.

…and here is the quilt.  It looks awesome.  They did such a great layout of the quilt.  The picture here looks small but in the magazine, it’s a two page spread.  WOW!  I just loved what they did with the quilt.

Here’s the full layout…..

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve seen this quilt.  I originally made it for Kelli and Jason as a wedding gift.  All of our kids get to pick out a quilt of their own choosing when they get married.  This was what Kelli picked.  The rings are smaller than some versions.  I think that’s what makes it so stunning.

I am planning on hosting a quilt along for this quilt.  It will start in early June.  Mark your calendars now.  You have plenty of time to collect fabrics…plenty of time to find your copy of the magazine.  We will not be selling the magazines.  We will not be giving out copies of the pattern.  You will need to purchase the magazine at your news stand.

I plan on making my next one exactly like this one…same print and Civil War reproduction fabrics again.

Here’s what the magazine did for an alternate layout.  I like it in solids…

I blogged about this quilt LOTS and LOTS as I was making it.  Feel free to follow this link to read all of the past posts.

Kelli and I were thrilled when American Patchwork and Quilting wanted to publish the quilt.  I know Kelli’s super excited to have it back in her possession.  We’re not typically very worried when we send a quilt out but this one, we did worry about a bit.

The photos are all from American Patchwork and Quilting….I’m sure Kelli will take a few more once the quilt is home and back in her hands.

  1. I too recognized the quilt immediately when my issue came, before I even looked at the article. It is absolutely stunning, and I am fighting with myself about making one! I have been working very hard to try and get some of my older UFO’s finished and not starting anything new. This quilt may just be my undoing!!! Thanks Jo & Kelly for all you do for the quilting world! Hugs to you both.

  2. Beautiful. I was thinking, why wouldnt this work with tumbler pieces? I have a bunch of 2.5″ tumbler pieces and I just might sew them together and add a center piece just for chucks to see if it would work. Thanks.

  3. Jo, this quilt is amazing! I love the dark background!! I am going to try to get a copy of the magazine today….
Congratulations on having another quilt published!

  4. I’ve got the magazine and plan to get this cut out a little at a time as I finish up other projects. May be next year before I get to start sewing. Thinking about trying out the fabric glue sticks or fabric glue that people are so excited about. Might work great for this application or might be terrible. Thanks for another beautiful quilt!

  5. Hi Jo!
Oh goodie, a quilt along! A double wedding ring has long been on my list of quilts to make, so since i have my magazine, I’ll be pulling fabric in preparation for this project. Looking forward to this!
