Hey, have you seen the latest issue of American Patchwork and Quilting? It would be this one, the February 2020 issue? I love the snowball quilt on the cover.
What I love best though…is this…
It’s our quilt Playtime. If you’re a long time reader you might recognize this quilt. I made it with the intention of gifting it to Kramer’s great nephew. I ended loving the quilt so much that I decided to submit it.
I did and Quilts and More picked it up. They needed it ASAP and Carla our good friend from Longarm Quilting Inspirations, quilted it for us in a something like a 2 day time frame. Carla is awesome. It was published with them in Spring of 2018.
Well I needed to gift a quilt and I likely wasn’t going to get this one back from the publisher for several months so I went ahead and made another one. It’s pictured below…
This picture is from the archives from when Ruby was still with me.  For this version of the quilt, I got a little more gutzy with the improv piecing.
I think I like the first one that was published best. This one is a little more improv making it not look quite as clean…I really liked them both.
I ended up putting a fun farm print on the back.
I had to laugh as the is the picture from the magazine shows a baby with the quilt. Doesn’t it look like Georgia?? Sorry the image is a little grainy. It was the best I could do.
This little one looks older than Georgia but still, if you didn’t know I can see how someone might confuse them.
So that’s the story of the Playtime quilt. I think it’s so appropriately named, making it as both the maker and the baby will have “playtime”.
Congratulations ! I like both also.
It looks like a super easy and fun quilt to make and I love that you have Carla do some of the long arming. I don’t feel so bad that I pay to have my quilts done, lol
Congratulations on getting published! Love the quilt colors!
Always liked this quilt I’ll be looking for this magazine and your right that does look so much like Georgia
Super cute quilt, Jo!! Congrats on getting it published.
Is there a pattern for the first one? Love it!!
It’s in the magazine Winona.
