…and just like that, it’s June. If you have a deadline project, the calendar just flipped, and you’re closer to needing to have it done!! Luckily, I don’t have too many deadlines.
We had a family wedding over the weekend, plus I had doctor appointments this week, so not as much sewing got done. My goal was to try to get one quilt top entirely together…and I made that goal.

Rick was here when I snapped the photo…I had to show him how good Rosie is at sitting.
Here the top is all laid out…

I am in love with this top. I designed this one in an effort to use up the leftover star blocks I had.
If you look, you can see the neutral background blocks are in the center, the dark background blocks around the outside and the checkerboard style border around the outside.

I loved making this. My 2″ scrap bucket really took a hit. There aren’t many colored strips anymore…mostly just background neutral pieces. That’s an okay problem to have though. I have more fabric, so I can always cut more strips.
I also worked on my bow tie quilt. The center of the quilt is finished.

I recorded two videos while trying to make this quilt top. NONE of them worked. I finally just gave up. That doesn’t mean I won’t be doing more videos, just none for this quilt.
I have three more borders to put on this…Hopefully, that will happen this week. The blocks were gifted to me by a blog reader.
It was nice to see some big accomplishments in the sewing room. Now I need to finish a few more UFOs. What have you been working on??

I really like the star quilt too! It is beautiful and so colorful. Your bowtie quilt is very nice too. You accomplished quite a bit for the little amount of time you had to sew.
I’m swooning over your glorious star quilt! I am a big fan of scrappy quilts, and your stars are just delicious!
Jo, your star quilt is absolutely stunning. I have a pile of 8 inch sawtooth stars that I’ve been making from scraps. Now I know what I should try to do with them! WOW!
I am always amazed at what you accomplish even though yu say you didn’t get much time in the sewing room. Nice job on both quilts. I especially love the star quilt. I made my first t-shirt quilt. I am so grateful for help with it from a friend who has made several. I was intimidated..don’t know why but guess it was lack of confidence. Now that I’ve made one, I will not hesitate to make others. Never too old to learn something new!
Your star quilt turned out wonderful! I’m trying to get some garment sewing done and finish the parts for my bed quilt. Made a tiny bit of progress on each, but not much. I rearranged my sewing room to add another table to hold my serger. Not sure I like it yet. It flipped all my ironing stuff backwards from where it was before. I’ll have to see how that goes. But, it did give me more space around the ironing board. Stay tuned!
Wonderful quilt finishes and a bow tie quilt is on my bucket list. You got a lot done, yahoo!
I absolutely love your star quilt! You got a lot done. Hugs,
Your star quilt is fabulous, I love it! I look forward to seeing it quilted.
I love the star quilt! I can’t believe how much you get finished. I was thrilled to complete the May block for my LQS BOM before I am to pick up June!
Jo I love that star quilt! It is massive!!!!!! What are its deminsions? I love stars and this quilt has stars aplenty!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!
I love your star quilt. I’m 80 and wonder how many quilts I have left to make, but I sure hope this is one. I didn’t start quilting until I was in my early 70’s. We all have regrets, but I so wish I had started quilting earlier.
I have severe arthritus, so am slowing down. Just finished a postage stamp quilt, large queen, that I started in January. Next project is a twin quilt for the young family acrosss the street. They have three beautiful little girls who I made ‘Name’ quilts for last year. Their fourth child arrived yesterday and is a little boy. I started his ‘Alphabet’ quilt yesterday.
You are an inspiration for me.

Like everyone else, I love your star quilt. (I actually love both of them) I love how the sun coming through the window makes it look like stained glass. Wouldn’t it be neat to have a stained glass window like that?
Love and prayers
Don’t you think the star quilt looks like stained glass in the photo with Rosie? It’s gorgeous.
I loved the picture too.
That star quilt is absolutely amazing – you’re so inspiring! I could just imagine spending hours in bed looking at each individual fabric.
Did you ever make the king size quilt from your 6 inch sawtooth star blocks that you were making bonus tiny half square triangles. I love this quilt, but is there another one?
It isnt finished
Your star quilt is lovely. So is Rosie!
