What I’ve Been Watching…

I sat down to watch television and was trying to pick something to watch when I realized it’s been a long time since I’ve done a blog post on what I’ve been watching on television.

I’ll be honest…I watch a lot of flosstube. For those new, flosstube in a part of Youtube where cross stitchers talk about their cross stitch projects. There are new floss tube channels out and I have been enjoying many of them. I’ll write that up in a separate post on another day.

When I’m not watching floss tube here are some of the things I’ve been watching…

1883…This is a prequel to Yellowstone. You can find it on Paramount Plus. It’s totally worth subscribing to for a month just to watch it. Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and my favorite Sam Elliot are all in it…so good.

Here is a little synopsis.
A prequel to “Yellowstone,” “1883” follows the Dutton family as they flee poverty in Texas and embark on a journey through the Great Plains to seek a better future in Montana. Real-life couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill star as James and Margaret Dutton, while Sam Elliott portrays Shea Brennan, a tough cowboy who has sadness in his past. Other cast members include Isabel May, LaMonica Garrett and Dawn Olivieri. Billy Bob Thornton will guest star and Tom Hanks makes a cameo in a Civil War flashback scene.”

Here is the trailer…

This is on my list of favorites. It was so good. I used to always watch westerns with my dad when I was a kid. I would have loved to watch this with my dad.

My next show is also a Yellowstone prequel. That’s 1923. The Dutton story continues. This time the wonderful Harrison Ford and Helen
Mirren. I love them both so I knew I would love this. I first loved Harrison back in his Star Wars days. What a great actor and he out does himself in this show…Helen does too.

You can find this on Paramount Plus as well.

Here is a description:
The Duttons face a new set of challenges in the early 20th century, including the rise of Western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression.”

Here is the trailer.

I was absolutely thrilled when I heard that this show was renewed and there will be another eight episodes. YAHOO!! I’ll be watching every single one…maybe twice which I NEVER do.

On Netflix, I watched The Night Agent. It’s a good show that has really kept me wanting to watch more.

Here’s the description:
While monitoring an emergency line, an FBI agent answers a call that plunges him into a deadly conspiracy involving a mole at the White House.

There is a second season coming for this show but it says there is a new cast. Hmm. I hope it’s not all completely new. I liked several of the characters and would love to know more about them.

On HBO Max I have been watching the show Love and Death. I have just been loving this show so far…not so much for the show…that’s okay. What I really love is how well the time period is done with this show. It takes place in the 70s and everything is SO 70s. I’m not finished watching the series yet but so far, just seeing the scenes is interesting to me…I keep saying to myself, my mom had the Pyrex dish…Sadly that’s not conducive to cross-stitching. But, I’m enjoying watching.

Two churchgoing couples enjoy small-town family life in Texas – until somebody picks up an axe.”

Here is the official trailer. While you watch check out the background.

Those are the main shows I’ve watching. Of course in between I always watch Cold Case. I’ve told you about that show before.

I did introduce my grandkids Carver and Gannon to Scooby Doo. We’ve been watching that when they are here…

Flosstube is still and likely will be the main thing I watch. Do share. What have you been watching?? I’m always looking for something.

I also have seen the Night Agent, and really liked it and like you I hope the main characters come back!

  2. Last night we watched ‘The English’. Definitely not a light hearted show. It had many English actors playing Americans. The other night we watched Three Pines and it even has a FB group, another serious drama/cop show set in Quebec. It will be renewed for 2023 I’m sure. I’m not a fluff movie person, I like serious drama.

  3. I loved the 3 seasons of Masterpiece “Sanditon”. Series finale was just on recently.
Two good comedies on Apple TV—Ted Lasso and Shrinking. Shrinking has Harrison Ford.
A few other good ones on Apple TV are (got 3 months free with a product purchase at Best Buy )
“Black Bird”, Drama, starring Taron Edgerton. One season
“Dear Edward”, drama, starring Connie Britton. One season. Based on book
“Truth Be Told”, mystery, 3 seasons. Same star, Octavia Spencer, but different stories each season
The Last Thing He Told Me, mystery, season one still going on, but really good. Stars Jennifer Garner. Based on book.
    I’ve enjoyed all of these.

  4. I did like 1883 but didn’t care for Yellowstone. I struggle with watching profanity, violence, etc. I do mostly watch quilting videos on YouTube and Flosstube, or I should say it is on in the background as I do other things. I love the BBC productions of Wartime Farm, Victorian Farm, Edwardian Farm, and more. I visit several homebound people in their late 80’s and 90’s every week as a ministry and love the old books and movies they recommend. I love these women too!

  5. I’ve loved Yellowstone from the beginning (Rip is my fave) but didn’t care for the prequels. I did get aggravated when they started the season in Nov and they split this season into 2 parts and have heard the 2nd half may not air due to some conflict between Taylor Sheridan and Kevin Costner. Good grief….

  6. I watch several of the shows that were mentioned, and I watch several science fiction, like The Ark. One that I am watching now is a Hallmark production named Ride about a rodeo family. They have a long rodeo tradition and have lost two family members to bull riding. How will their grief change them? Will they save the ranch? What will they sacrifice to save it and will the family survive? Hallmark is running the episodes on Sunday night and it should also should be on their streaming?

  7. I have also been watching Love and Death. It felt like de’-ja vu and then I realized I had watched “ Candy “ on Hulu. It’s the same story!

I watch very little TV or movies and what I do watch is on Netflix. One of my very least favorite groups of people are “The Royals.” When I do watch something about them, it is historical, not modern. So, I just watched Queen Charlotte. Hard to tell how much was fiction and how much was fact. BUT! Holy commoly. I thought I got a good education in the Iowa school system. I knew NONE of this. So glad I watched. Now I am in search of a good biography of both the Queen and King George.

When “Love and death “ happened we lived about 20 minutes away, same county. Everyone was shocked she got away with the killing, not right at all. I too enjoy seeing the old late 70’s decor. Would love to time travel and pick up some Clairol original herbal essence shampoo and Coty solid fragrances perfumes, flowers and grasses

  10. I watched a really good hospital drama recently on Netflix called New Amsterdam. I think there were 3 seasons so far and another one should be coming out. There is really good acting and although mostly serious, parts were funny too.

  11. I agree with you, I am so tired of the profanity used in these shows!! They would be outstanding without the use of the “f” word…

  12. I thought that you had a category up top which listed T.V. Shows that were popular. I can’t seem to find it – maybe on Bonnie Hunter’s site?
