What I’m Working On…Think Pink.

A blog reader had sent a bunch of blocks that looked like they were supposed to be snowball blocks.  Most had some shade of pink in them.  I didn’t really know what to do as the blocks already had a little chunk out of the corner.  I set them aside hoping for inspiration to strike and it did.  I was over to Country Threads blog and Mary was doing a quilt along and the block she was featuring was a snowball block.  (Find info on that here)  Mine were bigger than hers but I thought I’d play along anyway.

That left me with figuring out how to tackle that corner that was already cut out.  Then I remembered that another blog reader had sent me come 2 1/2″ squares.  Why not use them?

They are bigger than I need but they’ll work and goodness knows I have plenty of 2 1/2″ strips that I can cut more squares from.

As you can see in the next picture, the squares are bigger that what was originally suppose to be used but it’s working like this….

I started out thinking that this would be a baby quilt.  I sewed all the pieces that I had together and can see that now it’s a little big….so what’s a girl to do??

Well for me, there are plenty more pink scraps around here so I’m going bigger.  I’ve always wanted to make all the childcare kiddos a big quilt for their bed so I’m thinking that this might be the quilt for one of the girls.  I have a stack cut..and then a box of fabric came in the mail from a blog reader with more pink fabric in it.  It’s the fabric to the left.  I immediately put it over in cutting pile and some of that fabric is going to make it into this quilt too.

How fun is it that so far, three blog readers have sent fabric to make this quilt?  I love the idea.

So that’s what I’m working on this week…that and my UFO too but you’ll have to wait until Wednesday to see what I’m doing with that!

Today we’re hooking up with Patchwork Times.

  1. Can’t wait to see what UFO you are tackling. I need to find time to find the last 6 of mine and get them posted on Instagram. I don’t even remember starting Holy Toledo . . .no idea what fabrics, or container, or anything. CRAZY! I am getting that room under control this summer.
LOVE the pink, as in a house of 3 boys, I don’t get to play with pink much.

  2. Love the pink snowballs! You ALWAYS create the most interesting layouts. What an inspiration you are, Jo!
And to be a winner in your drawing is a super double bonus! Thank you!
