What I’m Working On–The Kelli Edition!

A post from Kelli–

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea.  Although it was a bit hard to deal with at first, I feel so much better now.  One lingering issue that I have though is that I have a hard time sitting still without anything to do at night without falling asleep.  Many times, when Jason comes home, we watch a TV show together before heading upstairs for bed.

I had been looking for another stitching project since I finished my most recent project “Dog Lessons for People” and so I dug out this beauty.

Sampler 2
I had purchased this pattern a few months ago on one of our wonderful visits to meet Ila and didn’t realize quite how ambitious it really was.  After a bit of planning, I got started a few weeks ago and haven’t looked back!

Sampler 1
The pattern is by Willow Hill Samplings and is called Quaker Bluebird Sampler.  The only thing that I am having issues with is getting more thread as I originally hadn’t purchased enough.  I planned on purchasing some online, but found out that you can’t purchase directly from the company and are instead referred to the stores that carry their products.  I was happy to learn that there was a store in nearby Decorah that carried the line, but my happiness was quickly dashed as they didn’t have the color that I needed.  I’m still on the hunt to get some, but am going to try to find some online tonight!  Oh the joys of living in the middle of nowhere!

  1. Oh my goodness….you got a lot of that done in such a short time. I can’t wait to see the finished project. It will be a wonderful heirloom someday. Young people don’t seem to do that type of work….well….most hand work….these days so it is refreshing to see what you are working on. Happy stitching!!!

  2. Wow! You’re quick! I too must have something to do or I will go to sleep and that’s when I started blogging. I do handwork too but since I’m quite a bit older than you are, I like to do my hand stitching in the daylight. These eyes don’t see as well at night as they used to. I live in the middle of no-where, only in TX so I have to make my trips to the city count and yes I rely a lot on the internet to do some shopping. Keep up the good work!

  3. Know what you mean about the middle of nowhere in Iowa. I live there also. If your floss is DMC, I may have something that would help you out until you can get somewhere to buy more. I have 4 thread boxes of floss, so no shortage of colors. I don’t cross stitch very much anymore due to hand issues. Really like your project. Keep up the good work.
