What I’m Working On….The Engagement

Well….I have news….AWESOME NEWS!!

Our daughter Kalissa and her boyfriend Craig got engaged over the weekend!!

Can you see her ring in the photo??

They set a date already too, September 5th of next year….Labor Day weekend.  So by this time next year I need to have a quilt made.

After all the excitement settled I said, so I guess I’ll be needed to make another quilt.  She smiled and say yep.   Then she proceeded to tell me that she thought she’d like me to make either…a Perkiomen Daydreams quilt…

PerkiomenDaydreams-1
or she’d like a Hawaiian Sunset quilt.

I started one of these quilts.  It’s in my UFO pile.

It’s definitely do-able.  I’m not sure which colors she’d like.  We have enough time to get her to pin point colors….but come January first, I’m going to make her get some decisions made on exact patterns and colors.

We have three kids who have gotten married so far and they’ve all picked out the quilts they wanted me to make….there was Kayla and Spencer’s Maverick Star,

Look how little Ruby was then.

Buck and Jen’s Double Wedding Ring, and Kelli and Jason’s Double Wedding Ring.

Then Kelli and Jason’s Double Wedding Ring….

I am open to whatever they would like me to make….Don’t tell the kids but I kind of like the challenge of a harder quilt.

Congratulations!! The quilts you made were totally awesome! I was actually in Perkiomenville, PA a long time ago–I always loved that name. Can’t wait to see which one she chooses.

How exciting! But not overly surprising. When a guy helps his girl’s family rehab a house, he’s going to be around a while. Congratulations to them and you!

Congratulations to Kalissa and Craig! I think you would enjoy the challenge of the Hawaiian Sunset quilt. You can always make them the Perkiomen Daydreams later. I made a Hawaiian Sunset quilt just by looking at a picture of the original quilt in a book. It went together rather easily so following a pattern shouldn’t be that hard. I just need to get it quilted now. :-)

Congratulations to you and your family!
I understand the more challenging quilts being fun…. unless they are on an unreasonable time frame.
The quilts you have already made as wedding gifts certainly give you a high standard!

I look forward to reading about wedding preparations over the next year.

Great news, Jo! You’re family is growing – and so is the opportunity for making more quilts :) I’m sure Kalissa will love whatever pattern you choose!
