Ever since I got the e-book Step-by-Step Free-Motion Quilting: Turn 9 Simple Shapes into 80+ Distinctive Designs Best-selling author of First Steps to Free-Motion Quilting from C&T Publishing so I could review it here on the blog I’ve been itching for a chance to doodle the designs.
I love getting the white board out and trying my hand at them. Â I have lots of room for improvement….
I could honestly doodle for a long long time.
Right now I just have a chunky marker. Â I really need some finer tipped ones to really get the hang of some of these designs. Â The one below is so fun. Â I have to admit I am not the best at back tracking (going over the same line I already stitched) Â That makes me nervous to try the design below but I really like it and it’s simple so I just might have to conqueror my apprehension and just give it a try. Â I’m never going to get the hang of it if I don’t.
My current plan right now is to practice a few more of these designs, then pick a few and try them out on a new batch of charity quilts that just came in last week. Â There are some really pretty quilts in the bunch. Â I can’t wait to get a couple done and show them to you.
…but for now, I’m just doodling away!
Today I am hooking up with Patchwork Times.
Your backtracking looks really good to me. I struggled with it hard too, but I found it was easier if I slowed down for those parts.
I just happened on your blog from Patchwork Times, and I just did a blog post on Christina’s book too, LOL Love that book!!!
What a great idea to use a whiteboard for the FMQ practicing. I’m going to add that to my next shopping trip list.
