What I’m working on

Sunday I put one of Kelli’s quilts on the quilting frame.  This is from American Patchwork and Quilting’s June 2010 issue.  The quilt is called Odds and Ends.

Once that one was finished, I loaded another quilt right away.

This one is mine.  It is Hand Me Downs from Bonnie Hunter’s book, Scraps & Shirttails: Reuse, Re-pupose, Recycle! The Art of “Quilting Green”.

I didn’t get this one finished….finishing it is on my to-do list for tonight.

Saturday as Kelli and I were sorting fabric, we took the plunge and we each cut out another quilt…I know I wasn’t going to start another project until my UFO’s were under control-I know-I know-I know.  But I did it and am glad I did.  For years Kelli and I have wanted to make the Texas Braid quilt from Adventures with Leaders & Enders: Make More Quilts in Less Time! bit neither of us have cut it out.  With all that fabric and scraps just waiting to get put into something, we decided why not just cut it out as all the scraps were there.  Honestly, I am not going to start sewing on mine yet.  I really am just concentrating on get quilts through the quilting machine right now.

If you didn’t hear about the project we are working on to help out the people in West, Texas, please check this out.  If you interested in checking out our latest giveaway, you can find that here.  You can see what others are working on by checking out Patchwork Times.

  1. Jo, I liked both those quilts when you were working on them and I still do! Congratulations on the almost-finishes. You are on a roll!

  2. I guess if you have all the “very little pieces” cut out you can actually do the “leader/ender” thing. I have never been able to get into the swing of it but do admire that people wind up doing two, or three, quilts at once that way.

  3. I’ve got Bonnie’s Texas Braid quilt all cut out as well. I worked on the first 4 strips by alternately chain piecing them through the machine and got about 3/4 of the way through them. Then they went back into te project box because it got to be such tedious work! Maybe I’ll pull it back out to piece along with you…maybe, lol!
