I didn’t get much time in the sewing room. Grandma duties, doctor appointments, and shopping so Rick could get his EMT clothes for school took up most of my time. Besides…my sewing room is pretty overwhelming. I’ll tell you more about that in another blog post.
Rick, my son-in-law Craig, and Carver all went golfing on Sunday afternoon. That gave me time to get away.
There was nothing on the long arm. I figured my first order of business should be to get something on the frame. I have so many things ready to go…or close to ready. I decided to clean up the area around my main machine, and this quilt was lying there.

Connie gave it to me for a donation quilt. It was perfect. Not too big…not too small. It would make a great donation quilt.
Next up, it needed a backing. I wasted a lot of time trying to find something. I think Connie originally gave me something for the backing, but the two got separated at some point. I was back to looking.
I found this…It had been a thrift store find sometime back. I paid $1 for it. It was all one piece of fabric, but it looks like the colors are sewn together.

It was just a little bit too small. So I went to my cabinet with solid prints in it. I dug around and found two pieces of fall-ish looking fabric. I added another reddish and the tan. Now it was big enough. I got it ironed and then loaded it on the longarm.

The backing ended up looking much better than it did in the photo.
You can see Rosie was my sewing room helper.

When I was working with the quilt, I lifted the top up and look what I found!!

These are the makings of a baby quilt. I have been looking for them for a long time!! I specifically know I had looked for them several different times. This was on my UFO list a few different years. Gee…I wonder where it was that I missed it. Anyway, all I know is that for now, I’m happy I found them. My plan is to jump in and work on them. I’m not really sure what my original plan for them was. I’m thinking a scrappy quilt, as I have random pieces sewn onto a few of the pieces. I would love to have something casual and mindless to sew on. These would be perfect.
It also seems so appropriate to sew an ABC kids quilt with it being back-to-school time.
That’s all from the sewing room. I have hope that life will allow me more time next week. For now, I’m thankful for the time I had.

Good Morning!
Isn’t it amazing the things we find when we’re not looking for them! Glad you found your ABC fabric!
Love and prayers
I’ve never seen you end a blog post mid-sentence. I hope everything is okay and no emergency suddenly arose.
Oh Jo. You have become such a tease! “I will tell you more about it in another blog post.” You know how to keep us coming back!
I’m so glad you were able to have some time in your sewing room. I am amazed what you find in there. You have UFOs that I don’t remember ever seeing or hearing about. It will be fun to see more of the ABC quilt.
