Oops. This was supposed to publish on Monday, and it didn’t. I guess that’s okay. I don’t have any cross-stitch to share with you, as Rick and I were in Michigan all of last week. I’ll just pop this post in here.
We had a crazy busy week and weekend. On Friday, Rick took a friend of ours to the doctor, and I stayed home. I just HAD to get in the sewing room. If you remember, I have Anders’ preschool quilt trailing me. School starts on the 24th, and I want to have it done before then. It needs to be finished before then.
Only problem…I had my 50 quilt top on the long arm.
Technically, I could have just taken it off…but it takes a bit to get the quilts on and off the frame. It was easier just to finish it. Besides, I needed this one for a benefit coming up as well. So, just DO IT JO!! I got working on it…Thankfully, it isn’t a huge quilt.

It had sat on the frame for almost a month. I decided that I was going to outline the flowers and the rest would be a stipple.
I was just finishing up the longarm work when Rick got home. Oh, the quilt turned out pretty good.

If you remember, I got this quilt top earlier in the year at the thrift store. I only paid 50 cents for the top. It was just the snowballs and applique. Knowing I wanted a bigger quilt for a benefit, I added the inside and outer borders. I had a bit of a struggle selecting fabrics, but I think it turned out okay.
Later that afternoon, I slipped away and got the quilt bound.

Whew. It’s all done and ready for the benefit.
I’ll get some pictures taken and show off the quilt in an upcoming blog post. I’ll tell you where the pattern came from and all the details. For now, I’m just so thankful it’s off the machine and ready to be donated…and I can load Anders’ preschool quilt on the frame.
Rick and I have plans that will keep us away from the sewing room…so once those are done, Anders’ quilt is next.

Your borders look perfect! Good job, Jo.
Cool! Quilt top is outstanding.
I’m so glad to see your “What I’m Working On” blog post is back! It’s my favorite post! I was afraid you weren’t going to do this one anymore after not doing one for a couple weeks. What a beautiful quilt that turned out to be! How fortunate that you found it to be able to bring it to life!
Beautiful finish! This is a very special quilt and should do very well as a fund raiser.
Such a great looking quilt and such little investment except your time. Hopefully, this will be a money maker for the fundraiser. So glad you had some time to be in your sewing room.
It’s inspiring to see how you rescue a quilt top, finish it, and donate it! Nice to see an unknown quiltmaker’s work being completed and doing good for someone. Jo, how do you hang your quilts on your porch? What hardware and hanging method do you use? Do you leave it up all the time or just put it up when you have a quilt to photograph?
Hi Sally. I’ll answer this in an upcoming Ask Jo.
