Sewing was not in my cards this week. Between kittens, garage sales, doctor appointments, and family, I wasn’t there as much as I expected. Well, I had one good day of sewing…
I put the borders on my half square triangle quilt. Then I picked a backing. This was the perfect sheet. Isn’t the color great?

I got it loaded on the longarm…

Straight line quilting??? Yes, please.
I even got the binding on…

It’s a simple quilt, but I sure do love it. The colors are amazing.
Many thanks to the blog reader who sent me part of the half square triangle units. I had so much fun making this one.
I also worked on my John Deere 4 patches. I had leftovers from the John Deere quilt I made last year. I had sewn 2 1/2″ strips together. I cut segments from that but there was a little left over. I had trimmed them at 2 1/2″ and then sewed them into 4 patches.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them. I decided I would make a quilt like you see in the background. I’d have it say John Deere at the top and the rest would be 4 patches.

I had cut strips to make more 4 patches, but I hadn’t sewn them together.
This week I sewed them together, cut them into 2 1/2″ segments, and sewed them into 4 patches…but that’s as far as I got. I need to get them all ironed and get a count on how many I have. From my note above, it looks like I need 256 blocks.

I think this will be a quilt for the benefit I donate to in August. We’ll see. I want to get working on it now so I’m not chasing a deadline too closely.
I’m hoping to get a little more time in the sewing room this week. Who knows if that will happen?? So far, I know I have appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

I love the half square triangle quilt – so colorful! What are the plans for this one?
And I know the John Deere quilt will go over well, no matter who gets it at the benefit.
Good luck with your doctor appointments.
Love and prayers
For a woman who doesn’t get much time to sew, you accomplish amazing things. The half square triangle quilt is beautiful. I think the back is and inspired choice. The plans for the John Deere quilt sound so cute. Good luck and hurrah!
Love the HST quilt :) Simple is the best. You sure are a busy lady but I miss your videos and spending time with you sewing….hint, hint. I’ve been replaying all your previous videos because I’m trying to get my sewjo back. I haven’t sewn much since my husband passed away in 2023. You keep me motivated. God bless :)
When you showed the plan for the John Deere I thought it would be for Anders kindergarten nap quilt. You must have another cute plan for that! Love the triangle quilt and the backing is perfect!!
Darling HST quilt. Thanks for sharing! I know you’re dealing with lots so it’s much appreciated. Take care!
I LOVE the half square quilt. Reminds me of the ones you made for Lucy and Lilly, when I first started reading your blog and watching sew-a-longs. And then the John Deere quilt will be similar to the girls’ quilts! Must be throwback Monday!
Good work. Oh, and love the sheet backing on the 1/2 square. Absolutely perfect color match.
The quilt is beautiful and I really like straight like quilting. I just finished one but I use “mostly” straight line quilting! Of course I do my quilting on domestic sewing machine and it was bigger than I like (82×82). I know the John Deere quilt will end up being cute too.
I love the colors in your half square triangle quilt and the backing! I have wanted to know how you put your binding on? The regular way sew down on the front and hand sew the back? Do you have a video of what you do? Hugs,
I do have a binding video. You can find that in this video https://youtu.be/rUyWsr8PNOA?si=kHYGS0-wqFM0CL87
Do what you can and just breathe, there is a lot on your plate right now. I enjoy the blog, no matter what you share with us.
I LOVE that half square triangle quilt!!!!! The colors are amazing. I may try to make one of those for me. I’ve about lost the quilt bug in favor of cross stitch, but those colorful triangles are so wonderful. I like your binding too!
