What I’m Working On…

I was extra busy in the sewing room this week.

I got my baby quilt off the longarm and got it bound. Final pictures of it will be coming soon.

I pulled this UFO. Long ago I was experimenting with a design that thought might work. Can you see the blue star in the quilt…Honestly, it’s not easy to see. This has been on my UFO list. I wasn’t feeling it anymore and it wasn’t what I “envisioned”. So I decided that I would add a cream border…

…and then a blue border with the hope that the star would pop a little more.

I ended up packaging it up and sent it to Ray for his Veteran’s Day program. It’s small but I think would be great for a Veteran who is wheelchair-bound.

The majority of my time went into the 16-Patch half square triangles. I think last week I told you I needed to sew over 1000. Here are some progress pictures.

and just like that, I had the 64 more blocks that I needed.

That was awesome progress to have that many blocks made over the week. I’m so pleased to have them all finished!!

Over the week I need to cut some sashing and hopefully will start sewing the blocks together this week. I’m so happy to have this UFO moving along so quickly.

I also got a few nine-patch blocks made…21 are finished and more need to be ironed.

…and I got a UFO loaded onto the longarm frame.

I wish all weeks were like that and I could make such good progress.

…an added bonus, I filmed a Sew with Jo video but it hasn’t been edited or uploaded up. Soon I hope. Watch for it over the week to come.

  1. Good to see you at the long arm again! Some beautiful quilts there. I’m especially loving the one that looks like flying geese but are planned scrappy looking – if that makes sense!
    Love and prayers

  2. You are a demon of progress! It’s great to see you making such headway on your UFOs. You’re an inspiration to make progress on mine.

  3. So glad to see you back in the sewing room! I know most of your time lately has been with cross stitch, which I love seeing, but your quilting is where my heart is. Cannot wait for the sew with Jo!!!!!! Have missed those so much. Your old ones have been on repeat. I think I know them by heart…hehe

  4. Great work – so much progress! I saw the saw immediately. I am sure that a veteran will love it. The other projects are good too. It is good to see so much progress in the sewing room.

  5. I could definitely see the blue star, and I think that sending off the top to Ray to finish for a veteran is a wonderful way to finish a UFO. You are so productive. I think I must have more free time than you, but you get so much more done. Impressive!

  6. I could see the Star – especially after you added the borders! This quilt will be a very nice addition to the Veteran Quilts Ray is making and collecting.

  7. What a “Wonder Woman” you are! You had a very productive week in your sewing room last week. Did your rescue dog get adopted? I haven’t seen any information about him lately.

    1. Yes…both Dundee and Hank were adopted. I have two new ones coming this weekend. They are bichon mixes…two boys. Both three years old.

  8. It always amazes me how much you accomplish in a week! You’re really cracking through the UFOs. I enjoy seeing how the individual pieces “grow” into quilts.
