Sorry I am late today with a blog post. I’ve had lots of visitors and have gotten behind on the blog.
I’ve been pretty busy and haven’t been quilting a lot either. Here’s what I’ve been up to.
I was to the thrift store and found some nice flannel. Two of the pieces were dog-related and I decided that I would make them into something for our daughter Kalissa’s new coming baby.
This one got hemmed and will be a simple receiving blanket.
I also found this …dog print flannel. I had the Minky in my stash. I plan to team them up together to make another little blanket for the baby. It’s on my to-do pile.
Can you believe the Double Wedding Ring quilt is still on the longarm. Oh my. I’m hoping this week that it will get finished. I had the same hope the last two weeks and still, it hasn’t happened.
Do you remember my big bag of goodness from a blog reader? It had included this…
I found my quilt book, Miss Rosie’s Spice of Life Quilts. You can find it HERE. I did some measuring and I am certain I can use the pattern to make more blocks and finish this into a quilt.
I ended up pulling some fabrics and hope to get cut soon. This will be the perfect quilt to donate to a worthy cause. Feel free to sew along with me.
I am still working on my Hawaiian Sunset quilt. I got all of the flying geese pressed and sewn into strips.
I kept working and got a block made.
I loved it so much that I made the rest of the blocks.
I am stuck here at this point because I don’t have the dark-dark blue that I need to keep going. I need a small print in a very dark blue that’s also a reproduction fabric. I looked online and didn’t find anything that fit. I found something that could work but didn’t love it. I’ll try to get to the quilt shop sometime in the next couple of weeks.
I have plenty of other things to work on so I’m okay.
That’s all I have to share on the sewing front. I’m off to wrangle the grandkids that are here. So far, just four but two more are coming. It’s gonna be a big day. Obviously…no sewing, but as I say, People over Projects.
Baby flannel blanket idea. Self binding flannel blanket. Missouri Star Quily
Stay with Jenny has a Utube video. Easy to do and follow. My grandsons loved these,
Congrats on getting those blocks done and finding the pattern for the donated blue blocks, Jo!
You can see your cabinets under your long arm so you are almost there with the double wedding ring. I just put a double bed size cross stitch on mine. The ones with all the making already on it. I love the way they look when finished but there is a lot of stopping and starting on it. It’s going to take a while. But what else am I going to do when the heat index is over 100 degrees this week?
Have fun with the grandkids!!!
Jo, I was just looking at reproduction fabric,

I love your LA area with the quilts on the wall. Just so happens the previous owner of my home left me a stack of vurtain rods. Hmmm. They could hang some quilts in my sewing room that doesn’t have an inch of room left over since I had to combine my former office furniture and sewing furniture in one room when I moved. But, I do have wall space. Your quilts are so lovely, the Hawaiian sunset is calling my name…
Hmmm, I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I’d say you got a fair bit done. Those blocks are gorgeous! I have some minky fabric but I’m apprehensive about sewing it into something. It seems hard to work with. But it’s so cuddly! Enjoy your week.
Wow! I think you’ve gotten a LOT done! All those beautiful blocks!
Absolutely love the colors you’ve used in your Hawaiian Sunset! Enjoy the precious times with your kids and grandkids.
Please check your email from me Holly M
LoL your not getting much done would be a happy dance for me!
Help! I am looking for the recent blog where you posted a code to put in to get a discount when ordering a Quilt Keeper. Anyone? Please tell me what it is. Thanks.
Welcome
Hi Cynthia. The coupon code has expired. Sorry. I’m sure there will likely be a sale again around Christmas time.
You do a lot in the sewing, just not as much as you want or not as much as you used to. I agree that “people over projects” is the right attitude. The projects will wait but not so with the kiddos. The Hawaiian quilt will be beautiful. So hard to believe that you made 600 flying geese in such a short time.
I love your Hawaiian Sunset blocks, Jo. You’ve actually achieved loads this last week! Have fun with your grandkids :-)
You have inspired me to start my Hawaii sunset. Was looking at the pattern just last week
Jo, Was wondering if you read Mary’s (Country thread chicken scratch) email/blog forester day 6-12-22 at 7:06pm. There is a lady named Lora that has scraps of fabric if someone wants them. Thought maybe
you would want some more. loraj500@gmail.com
Your quilt is look awesome. Will be pretty when done. The bubble machine is good for Georgie. She will
a lot of good times with it. I know this is old news but our internet was down for a few days. I think your blog/email is super good. Just love hearing about everything you print. I think that the perfectionist should
find a different email/blog to follow. We have had more rain here. A few small amounts and then last night 1 1/4″. The golf course is soggy again and more water standing in the fields. I wish we could save it
for later. In the 90’s today and a few more days with high temperatures but not as high as some other states. Don’t have to water my flowers.
I love your Hawaii sunset blocks. I might have to get the pattern.
Hi, I have the issue of Quilters Newsletter that has the Hawaii Sunset pattern in it. I would be glad to send it to you as I know that I won’t be making it myself. If you are interested, contact me @ jan9ris@gmail.com
Check out Lisa Bongean’s fabrics .she’s got some dark dark blue with find prints.
I love the Hawaiian Sunset quilt. I don’t have reproduction fabrics and don’t want to buy more fabric. I am not great at putting colors together. I may have to look around and see if anyone made it with other fabrics to see how it looks. Yours is going to be gorgeous!
Jo, I love your blog, and especially this Hawaiian quilt block!
Your creativity is amazing, and inspiring.
