When I last left you, I had this fabric and was chasing a deadline.
Our deadline was with Quilts and More. Well last week Kelli came over on Wednesday and our goal was to power sew until it was a top. Kelli had enough cut for me to start sewing at 5pm when the childcare kids left.
We had Georgia and Rosie so we set up shop in the kitchen. I was at the table with the Featherweight. Georgia was in the crib in the kitchen. Kelli was ironing way over on the stove.
Then the house filled up with Karl and Kalissa’s family. We ended up having an impromptu take out supper. After the table was cleaned and my house back to Kelli, Georgia, Rosie and me, we got back to sewing.
Kelli was ironing now. I had enough sewn that she could start ironing.
Things were going well and looking promising that there was a huge noise and skuttle over by the stove. Rosie was running and hooked herself in the iron cord. The iron flew to the floor and Kelli scrambled after the iron which was now resting on my kitchen floor.
Luckily all were okay…just a scary moment for a second.
We got back into production when BAM! The belt on the Featherweight broke! REALLY???
I was beginning to wonder if we were going to be here all night.
Kelli went upstairs and got the 301. I was back in business.
By 8:30 we were finished with the table runner. Georgia was starting to get fussy as it was bedtime so our timing was perfect.
Here’s Rosie telling Georgia goodbye. So far, she loves Rosie….
From there it was up to me to finish quilting and binding the table runner. Thank heavens it was only a table runner!!
As for my other sewing….
I got my mystery quilt stuff up to date. Thursday rolled around and I didn’t have the previous clue finished so I stayed up late and finished. All the pinwheel units….
..and the others got done.
Friday’s clue came out and I was determined not to let it hang all week….So I bundled things together from the latest clue.
and I got the other portion of the clue finished with the flying geese.
I know there supposed to me no whining…but I’m starting to feel like whining. I am ready to be done.
It’s all my own doing but I feel pressure to stay caught up. I put things aside that I really wish I was working on…so that I don’t get behind. I think it was just bad timing for me this year. In the last two weeks, I’ve have two deadline projects that need to be out ASAP and that isn’t fun either. Plus I have a baby quilt I really WANT to be working on for Kayla…
Which is started…YAHOO!!
I need to keep working on it though. I did the easy blocks first. I’ll do a whole blog post on the quilt. I’ve had lots of questions about it.
So with that, I’m off. No more blog post writing for today. It’s time to SEW!!
You have been busy for sure. All projects look great!
Today I just got out my featherweight and checked it over so I can do some wedding dress sewing for a friend. Turns out the gears needed lubricating and everything needed oiling from the LAST time I had it out – to Nova Montgomery’s featherweight class in Sept 2018!! Guess I just haven’t needed a small machine in all that time. Her instructions to say that you should use a thread holder stand for the larger thread spools……
Ironing on the stove, what a smart way to use your resources! Keep going!
With the new baby and all I’m surprised you were able to get organized to see anything. I know deadlines are just what the words mean so I understand your keeping on top of things is important. Praying for you and all your babies the grown and the littles.
Oh my you’ve been busy Jo! I love your mystery quilt assembled pieces! The batiks & colors are outstanding & I can’t wait to see your completed quilt!
I just picked up the current AQ magazine with one of your quilts in it. I love the Quilts and More magazine so I am sure I will be picking it up when it comes out. Happy Creating. Enjoy the family. Deadlines do help.
I’m with you Jo … I’m starting to whine, LOL! This is the first year I’ve kept up with the mystery clues (more or less), but I’m so ready to be done. I’m a much more leisurely quilter … that’s why I don’t get half as many quilts done as you do! Congratulations on Jasper joining the clan… what fun all those cousins are going to have at Grandma’s house!
Are you going to add the ABCs to the front (or back) of Jasper’s quilt? Congratulations on the newest member of the family, by the way!! Sorry about the belt for your Featherweight, Jo. Fortunately, you had a backup machine. And someone to haul it down the stairs for you!! :o))
I can sympathize with you. I always seem to be on the “if it weren’t for the last minute, a lot of things wouldn’t get done” schedule.
I am so excited that you have started one of Pam’s quilts….
