Over the weekend our daughter Kelli was home. At the last minute she decided to enter a project in Moda’s new project, SLICE. If you haven’t heard about it, here are a few details. Participants make a project during the month of February as their “audition” project. Each of those projects need to make from a Moda precut with optional extra yardage. They have to be for the office or studio and need to include a buckle in the design. These project will be judged. From there, participants will be selected to go on to the next level of competition. Then they will need to complete one project each week competing to have the best project.
Kelli came up with this idea. It is meant to help her organize her sewing goodies.
There are seven different pockets all together.
Here’s a preview of the pockets. I love this one with the braid.
This one is a pincushion.
This one has a red work embroidery work.
This one has a cute raw edge ruffle.
I love the added rick rack.
Two of the blocks feature quilt blocks. This one has a star….
and this one has a Friendship Star.
Isn’t it just the cutest?!
I spent part of the day sewing on my crumb quilt and the rest of the day working on my Quilt Square Quilt Along blocks….
If you want to see projects others have submitted for the SLICE competition, follow this link to Flickr. Leave Kelli some comments there. She is so nervous about the whole project and could use a little love. Oh it’s a busy day here today on the blog. …. including “Waste not Wednesday” AND the “Leap Day Giveaway Blog Hop” and the Quilt Square Quilt Along Reveal!!
Cute! What a great idea! All your tool handy and not lost on the cutting table with the fabric!
I would love a tutorial on how to make these pockets, she did a great job!
She did a great job! I agree a tutorial on it would be wonderful. I tried to find her’s on the flickr group but didn’t see it there so please pass along my ‘Great Job’. I think she will be into the next round with her ideas.
What a cute basket! I love it. Kelli you did a great job and I can’t wait to hear what the judges say.
Love it!! A super idea to avoid the clutter and time wasted looked for things buried under fabric. A tutorial would be awesome. I’m also thinking a basket with a handle would be great for transport between rooms.
Darling basket! What a great idea to make it even handier with the added pockets. I agree that a tutorial would be great.
Fantastic idea!!! It is pretty too!
Kelli is so talented! That’s a great project. I went to Flickr to comment, but couldn’t find her project. :-(
I do love it though. :-)
Kelli did a wonderful job on her project. I would like to have something like this for my sewing stuff.
What a great project! Kudos to you Kelli! What a fun gift idea for anyone who sews, but wouldn’t this be fun to make for a new quilter!
I too went to the site to leave her a comment but could not find her pictures. I looked at everyone else, but I like this the best, IMHO! I did not see a buckle on hers anywhere and it looked like everyone made a point of showing it. Wish her the best of luck–I think this is a definite WINNER!!!!!!!!!
It’s amazing…great idea!
Beautiful basket and so unique! Please tell her it is wonderful!
I love the project, but where is the buckle? I wish Kelli much luck in the contest!
Wow, I love it. You must be so proud! She did an awesome job! Love how she individualized each pocket with a different quilt design.
