I’m later than usual posting today. We had a whirlwind weekend. I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow. I can say this much…not a sewing machine was touched BUT lots of cookies were made.
Did you see my parade of all the finished quilts from Bonnie Hunter’s String Fling book? I posted it on Friday. It’s here if you missed it. So many people commented and said nice words about the quilt. THANKS everyone!! I think the book was a great quilt book and can’t say enough good words about the design.
I also reviewed Bonnie Hunter’s new book String Frenzy. Check that out here if you missed that.
Previous to the weekend, I got lots of sewing done. I got TWO of these sewn together to this point. I really want them entirely finished by next Block of the Month check in day which is the first Saturday in January. Over Christmas and New Years I have a few days off work and I don’t want to spend all of my time working on these…so, I’m pushing to get them going now.
The Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt had been clipping along. I love that the clues aren’t intense so I can get other sewing done in between them. I seem to remember previous years that it seemed that working on the clues was much harder.
I cut out the clue over naptime on Friday and then sewed the pieces Friday after supper.
Here’s my mystery stuff so far…
Over last week after I finished clue #2, I went on to sewing other things. I tackled my Block of the Month shown above and I kept working on my Hunter’s Star quilt.
It just so happened that I’ve been working on the EXACT same units as clue #3 was!! See them on the right???Before that, it was half square triangles!!
For Hunter’s Star I needed to make the Clue #3 unit in mirror image too. I’m almost done with them and can move on to sewing these units together and then my favorite…string blocks.
So good news…if you can sew the mystery, sewing a Hunter’s Star quilt will be no big deal.
For me, I’ve sewn these units enough and know that the distance I need to sew to make the bonus triangle without marking them. I never draw a line anymore. That saves so much time.
I keep hoping that Bonnie makes this quilt a string quilt. It would make good sense if she does, especially with the new book out promoting strings. I love them so it would make wonderful sense. We’ll have to see.
Thanks for stopping by. If you want to learn more about the mystery quilt…all things mystery can be found here on Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt page including clues and link ups. It’s the place to go for all things mystery. Here is the link to today’s specific post there.
If you are new here, I hope you stop by again. We are busy bloggers who publish new blog posts every morning and evening. We’d love to have you as a regular reader.
If you are a quilter who likes working with 100% cotton men’s shirts, with the help of my girls, I was able to get through my shirts over the weekend and will be hosting an auction on the blog selling shirts this Saturday and through the weekend. You’ll want to stop back and check that out.
