What I’m Working On…

I’m hooking up with Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Quilt link up today.  Welcome if you’re new here and the link up brought you.  Before the quilting report..a little life report.

I had a really busy weekend.  It involved little sewing.  That’s okay though as I got lots done related to Christmas.  That’s always a good feeling.

Saturday night at 10pm I met our daughter Kelli after she was done with work and brought Ruby, our beagle dog to her.  Ruby is going through her testing for Cushing’s Disease today and Kelli is going to be the one to jockey her back and forth to the periodic blood tests.  I would be so lost without Kelli in my life.  She’s so helpful and Hubby and I so appreciate her help.  I have to pick her up from Kelli tonight.  I forgot to ask how soon it takes to get the results of the tests….hopefully not too long.

All you long time readers know I like to keep life real here so….my sewing room!!

IT’S A MESS!  I really shouldn’t be sewing any mystery things before I clean but ah…that’s not going to happen.

There are some sneak peaks about what I’ll be blogging about over the next week….Can you see a Scrap Crystals block from Bonnie Hunter’s More Adventures with Leaders and Enders book?  Can you see some Pineapple Crazy from Bonnie Hunter’s String Fling book peeking out?  Somewhere in the mess is a wedding quilt that needs to be done in the next couple weeks…and backings for Cheddar Bow Ties and a quilt we’ll be submitting for publication.

This is the left overs from the baby quilt I showed last week and the “dumping ground” that suppose to be my cutting table.  UGH.  There is also Fair and Square from Bonnie Hunter’s book Scraps and Shirttails II.  If you’re new here you can see that I’m a Bonnie Hunter fan and make lots of her quilts.

Ans the quilt frame has “STUFF” too.  I did get the backing put together for the baby quilt that is late….

…and I got it on the frame.  I’ll have it finished and will be showing it off on Friday.  As I write I only have a one more roll of the frame and I’ll be done…then binding.

As far as the mystery goes….Here’s where I am at.Things are cut out for the first clue.

Bonnie-Hunter-Mystery-1

If you look I’m going all of mine in batiks.  I am opting to change my colors just slightly.  I am working from coral to orange instead of coral to melon.  I’ve not done orange in a quilt that I remember so it’s about time.  Besides, I like the oranges in there rather than pinks.

I’ll have these done before the next clue comes out on Friday.  I’m an incremental quilter with a touch of quilting A-D-D.  I always have lots of project going on and this week, even though it’s mystery week is no different.  I’m writing this post Sunday afternoon but my hope is that by Sunday night at bedtime I’ll have these sewn into units and then over nap time tomorrow (I’m and in home childcare provider by day) I’ll cut them into segments…then tomorrow night I’ll sew them into blocks.  Easy-peasy.  I find this makes the best use of my time….and I’m all about using time wisely.

That’s what I have to share for today.  You’ll want to stop back tomorrow for a new challenge we’re putting out for the new year…Wednesday is UFO Challenge day and being I got my Cheddar Bow Ties quilt into a top last week, I had to pull a new UFO- I pulled Pineapple Crazy and worked on it.  You will want to see it!!  Then of course there other happenings all week long….we put out new blog posts twice a day so there’s always something fresh!!

  1. Thank goodness that this isn’t a contest but my sewing room looks worse. Part of the problem is that it is soooo small but it has the best light of all the bedrooms. And I have way too many UFOs. And I’ve had family problems that have taken me out of state thus away from home for the majority of the past 7 months. I stressed fabric shopped while sitting at hospital bedsides and shoved the boxes into the room (I recently found unopened boxes) on the short trips home I made to work as I’m self-employed. I love that you’re real and show us it all, clean and messy.
