What I’m Working On…

My sewing continues to be disjointed working on several different projects at once and sewing on whatever I can easily get to. With my foot in the cast and the scooter to move me around I can’t dig and get to things I want to get to to complete projects so I continue to muddle. That’s okay though. One of our blog readers said- That’s okay to be sewing like that. One day you’re going to find out that you have a whole bunch of tops completed all at once. I am beginning to believe that.

This week, I put quite a bit of time into Fair and Square. It’s a Bonnie Hunter quilt that is found in the book Scraps and Shirttails II. I’ve loved it forever and got an even bigger want to finish mine after I saw Kelli’s. Here’s hers finished.

I love it. Well mine if far from finished but the blocks are getting worked on…I have these ready for ironing. Hopefully that will happen soon so I can move onto sewing the blocks together.

I managed to get my scooter into the closet and dug around enough to find fabric for the center of the block and the black fabric for around the block….I didn’t debate for a long time on the choices as I couldn’t get to all the fabric. That made choosing MUCH easier!!

I alsohave the strips sewn together for the outside border. Some ironing and cutting and that will be ready to assemble.

Little by little it’s getting closer to a finish. I sure like that sound.

After this is done, next up I’ll tackle the string blocks. My strings are tucked away so I either need someone to come dig them out for me or I’ll need to wait until that cast is off. In the meantime, there are PLENTY of other things to sew even if I do get all of this done.

  1. Forward progress IS forward progress! You’re doing great!

I love Kelli’s quilt. I see why you want one too. It’s gorgeous!

  2. I think it is normal to work on 4-7 quilt tops at once LOL – but I used to only do one at a time. Have never made one of Bonnie’s quilts, so very many pieces to use!! one day perhaps after all I have made other quilts with tons of pieces in them

  3. Good job on making progress with your squares. Fair and square is on my list of quilts to make, but I was thinking of using brights. Kelli’s is so pretty I may have to rethink my choice.
