Friday I was in a big scramble. Â My cousin Charlott had brought a quilt her daughter Donna had made and wanted me to machine quilt it. Â She didn’t have a dead line so I didn’t jump on it…then fast forward to Friday. Â I knew I might be seeing her on Sunday as she was home from Alaska and wouldn’t likely be attending the family picnic at Pilot Knob State Park in Iowa.
I quickly ironed the backing and got it loaded as soon as childcare was over. Â I got everything in place and managed to run through four bobbins before my tired self said enough.
Saturday morning Kelli was planning on coming over for a sewing day. Â We had hoped to work on Kalissa’s wedding quilt…but I had to finish up Donna’s quilt first so Kelli started organizing and I worked on the quilt. Â By 1pm I was done and the quilt was off the frame. Â I didn’t have time to go back and clip all the threads but it was done enough that I felt I could pass it on.
On Sunday I met Donna at the picnic and gave her the quilt…and she gave me another quilt along with a thank you gift card to JoAnn’s. Â It was very thoughtful and very much appreciated.
Here’s a sneak peak of the next quilt. Â I can’t wait to do this one. Â I love boxes and and I think this one will get a boxy quilt design. Â Any ideas for thread color??
I’ll see Donna’s mom in  two weeks.  I don’t know if my schedule will allow me to get it done by then.  That wedding quilt really has to be front burner right now.
We did make some progress on that but that is another story-one that will have to wait another day….let’s just say Kelli and I have learned a lot about each other while sewing this quilt.

Maybe gray? (I’m really into gray right now so that may not be an unbiased opinion! ) You do keep a lot on your plate! Can’t wait to hear what you and Keli learned about each other!
I would match the thread to all the different colors or use black and it would look like all the solid colors had a black design on them! I always see custom quilting options and rarely quilt a single design on a quilt. I would quilt swirls on the black and pick a different quilting motif for each color (feathers on the hot pink, small swirls with pebbles in the light pink, zigzags in the white, triangles in the purple, etc). Can’t wait to see what you do with it! Looking forward to seeing the wedding quilt!!!
My first impression is to use gray variegated thread to show off your wonderful quilting and bring in the black without overpowering the brights. Have fun, can’t wait t see what you do and with what color thread.
If the colors are all pink, purple and white – what about a variegated thread in pinks or purples. I wonder if there is a software program that allows you to indicate what thread you are using for quilting and the quilting pattern and if it allowed you to input a picture of the quilt top and let you modify your choices, that would make the decision making a little easier.
