What I’m Working On

I had most of Saturday to sew. YAHOO!! If you read yesterday’s post you know that I was busy cutting out a new quilt from the wonderful scraps that have been gifted to me.

The pattern is a Bonnie Hunter design that was featured in Quiltmaker…the quilt’s name, Garden Party. I loved the quilt the minute I saw it…I think it’s the red. I LOVE red.

Only a few days after I got the magazine I started pulling red and white fabric. Whenever I could I would sneak in a minute here or there and sew strips together. I really only worked on it a couple full evenings…the rest was stolen time.

Once the nine patch segments were sewn I put it all in a tote and waited for a car trip first to Minnesota and then the next day to Wisconsin. That’s when I pinned all the nine patches. Once home from the trip I got busy and sewed like crazy sewing the nine patches together and then the segments on the side so the blocks would be ready for the next car trip.

Sunday we went to church and it’s a half hour away so I was pinning again. When we got home…sewing again. Aren’t the little blocks so cute!! I love them!!

I don’t know how serious I am about getting this quilt completed. Yes I want to finish it but I am savoring the moments…and yes I am still working on my Pineapple Crazy blocks. They are my downstairs project.

Right now my goal is to get the pinned blocks sewn and the tote ready to take in the car again for the next pinning opportunity. Making the most of my time is even more important now that I don’t have as much quilting time.

I am sure once Kelli reads this blog post and sees that I cut out a quilt myself, she’s going to be so happy….it’s gotten so that she cuts out many of my quilts. What can I say, she’s a great daughter. I wasn’t going to let her cut this one out though…..I wanted to pet all that gifted fabric myself. It sure was fun!

  1. I’m always amazed by how much you get done — you’re the busiest person I know, and you get so much more done than the rest of us!

You do get a lot time and use every minute. I need to learn to do that. The quilt will be very pretty, do finish and show.
