What I’m Working On…

Well the main thing I’ve been working on is feeling better…but sadly, it’s not really happening.  It seems as I loose one bug another strikes.  I had antibiotics for sinus infection and if you’re a gal you know what that can sometimes do to you…yep, one thing after the other and the sinus thing still hasn’t quite ended.  UGH.

The worst of all was that on top of all that, I ended up with the flu over the weekend.  No Good Friday church…No Easter morning church.  UGH.  I think those two are my favorite of the entire year and I missed them both.  Honestly, I think that hurt more than the flu did.

Anyway…I will get better.  It’s just a matter of time and Hubby says SLEEP.

I did get my seven Pineapple Crazy blocks done.

PineappleCrazy
I even managed to clean some in the quilting room.  I emptied five more boxes…and even loaded a small charity quilt on the frame.  What do you think for thread color.  Hubby says red.

I am thinking no red….

Help what do you think?

I figured if I got the quilt loaded I could machine quilt it one night after child care….that’s the hope if Hubby doesn’t ground me to the living room chair to make me rest.  He actually knows better…that would kill me quicker than any bug would.  My philosophy is movement is okay…stress not so much…so I if I machine quilt this, I’ll be doing something with limited movement and completely stress free!

Wish me health.  I’m off ….gotta keep up my liquids…another thing Hubby is preaching.

Today we’re hooking up with Patchwork Times.

  1. I would say definately red, it would bring the design altogether very nicely. Just my own personal opinion, mind you, LOL Love your pineapple blocks, I started a spider web quilt yesterday and have one block completed, love it!

  2. I hope you’re feeling much better real soon. I’m still new to free motion quilting on a frame so I stay with thread colors that blend with the lighter colors in the design. I would probably use the white thread. Red would be dramatic on the white though. Do you have some fabric scraps or an extra block that you could test on?

  3. Hang in there Jo. I am also a teacher and it takes the first year back to teaching to get your immune system to working. Until then you will catch everything. Then you will be better able to fight all the bugs the little’s bring your way. I rarely get anything any more. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

  4. I think Hubby is right.
I would the red, is there a lighter red, if so I’d use that. I hardly ever use white, don’t like the look of white on darker fabrics.

Love your pineapple blocks, your finished quilt will be awesome.

  5. Hope you’re feeling better soon! It’s gotta be the germs those child care kiddos bring in – kids are such good germ spreaders :-) Listen to your hubby, and take it easy!
Love your pineapple blocks, they’re so scrappy and colorful.

  6. As much as I would love to say red (my favorite) I think this one calls for blue (my least favorite!) Cant wait to see what you choose

  7. Of the two reds I’d go with the paler one. But I’d actually pick the pale green, although it might be time for me to get new glasses because everyone else thinks it’s white!

  8. Hope you feel better soon. My doctor recommends Musinex when I have a sinus infection. I would quilt it with white or light blue. I think the red would stand out too much. Love your pineapple blocks.

  9. White thread.

Missing holidays is hard. One year, I was in the hospital for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s hard to explain how difficult that is. Hope you’re feeling better soon and that you’ve built up an immunity to EVERYTHING!

  10. Funny, I like the blue thread too. There’s already enough red. I hope you get better soon. You’ve had no mention of church attendance before, I’m glad to hear you go!

  11. So sorry you’re still feeling poorly. Feel better soon, OK? Love your pineapple blocks and rest is your best medicine.

  12. Any time you take antibiotics it’s good to take acidolophius (don’t think I spelled that right). Anyway, it helps keep the good stuff in you gut and elsewhere alive while the antibiotics do their thing. Hope you feel better soon!

  13. Well, I’m not really a “blue” person, but I think this one calls for the blue thread. I actually think it’s begging for blue! :-) Glad you got your pineapple blocks done. Listen to hubby and REST!

  14. I vote for white or cream. Red is just too dominating when there are white spaces. Maxi lock makes a pearl color that reads white with just a hint of color. I find that I use it a lot.

  15. I hope you feel better. I vote for the red, but do you have any pale green or a gold for a less bright look.

  16. I hope you get to feeling better, Jo. I think Joy’s suggestion of the white, cream,or even better, pearl thread would look very nice on the quilt. I love your quilt.

    Take care.

  17. If I were longarm quilting this top, I would go with white or cream. I like to go with a color that blends pretty well with all of the fabrics, and I think that red will overpower both the white fabric and the blue fabric. And I don’t think the bluer thread will look very good on the red fabric. So white would be the choice for me.

  18. I’m sending a prayer for your return to exellent health. I love the polka dots in the Pineapple blocks. I’d prefer a neutral thread for the quilting but you’re the best judge. I look forward to seeing the finished quilt.

  19. I’m thinking that pale green or the blue. The red would be “ok” but I think the blue or the pale green would be better. Hope you’re feeling better soon. Patti is right, acidipholous (I didn’t spell it right either) will help. I buy the chewable kind at CVS that is strawberry flavored. Rest and fluids will be your best friend, something hard for me to do! It’s hard to keep a good woman down! :) Oh, and got your Country Girl Modern book today. LOVE IT!!!!

Hi Jo, I to use to work with children and I even ended up with croup( retired nurse) which is child’s disease but after a while things settled down Now I have FM so stay away from crowds as much as possible . Hope you feel better look after yourself . You will choose the right thread you have wonderful taste. Your new home is really coming along beautifully.
    Blessings Sandra

  21. Hope you bounce back from your illnesses soon. In our area we have something called bronchial pneumonia going around….terrible coughing, sore throat & body from all the coughing, fever, general tired crappy feeling. I’m getting over it, hubby just came down with it. Some wind up in the hospital, but I think they’re the ones who don’t take care of themselves or the ones who should have gone to the doctor sooner because they are just to tough to give in to illness. I’ll tell you one thing….the over the counter cold & flu meds aren’t worth wasting money on any more, except maybe for Musinex. I rely on that stuff when the weezy noises in my lungs start. Actually, your hubby is right, rest is the best thing for you. That and plenty of liquids.

  22. White, definitely white. I, too, think the red would be too dominant, white would be more restful and would let the colors of the quilt show for themselves, making it pleasing to anyone who would receive it.
