On Friday night there was a local fund raiser happening here in town for the high school trap shooting team. Â The sport was new to our area when our youngest was a junior in high school. Â She loved being part of the team! Â One of my favorite things about it was that all sorts of kids are part of the group..it’s not only jocks…not only kids with the family sports gene in their blood and it’s one of the few sports that mixes boys and girls together. Â How well you shoot has nothing to do with gender.
Anyway we went out to the fund raiser along with some of our kids and had a nice time. Â When we got home it was that awkward time of the night…to late to start anything but too early to go to bed. Â We ended up putting on a movie. Â I can’t remember when the last time that happened was!! Â I watched for a bit but I’ll admit, the older I get the harder and harder it gets for me to just sit. Â I have to be doing something. Â This was the hard part though…what something?? Â I hadn’t unearthed the sewing room to find hand projects yet. Â UGH.
Then I remembered my busy bag. Â I keep a bag with a quilt book and something to stitch so I can just grab it if we are going somewhere…hm…but where was that bag. Â I went up to the sewing room and found it.
By the time  the movie was over I had this…
Not a lot but at least something to show for my time!
LONG..LONG ago I started an English paper piecing project. Â When I first started I worked on it LOTS. Â Now, hardly ever. Â I started it after seeing this quilt on a blog. Â It’s from the blog Plain and Simple and you can read about it here. Â Libby’s blog was one of the first ones I ever started reading. Â She does wonderful projects. Â Many include hand piecing.
At some point I’d love to finish this but it won’t be any time soon. Â I am happy with the little bit I do accomplish. Â When I get putting the rest of the sewing away, when I find this, I’ll give you a progress report along with a prediction of when I’ll ever finish this.
To see what others are working on check out Patchwork Times.
I have the same project in my take-along bag inspired by the same quilt. Like you-who knows when it will get finished (if ever) but in the meantime it fills the bill when needed.
