I am still trying to finish getting my shirts cut up…I have three quilts cut out but I am thinking that while all the mess is all over, I might as well cut out another. In the mean time, I did stop to make five blocks…
star blocks. My absolute favorite block! I like them even more that I anticipated.
The blocks will be for the quilt Hand Me Downs, from Bonnie Hunter’s first Scraps and Shirttails book. The blocks are so fun to make as matching fabrics isn’t a concern…it’s just a grab and sew. I think I am going to LOVE sewing with shirts.
To check out what others are working on head on over to Patchwork Times.
Those are soo pretty, yet so manly.
I just love those shirt blocks. I wish my husband wore more plaids and stripes. Perhaps I should make a trip to the Goodwill and see what I can find.
Those blocks look great! Would never know that the fabric was recycled! I just got the “leaders and enders” book and am looking forward to making some of those quilts… Thanks for sharing!
Just this weekend as I was culling out the dining room and taking things upstairs to the sewing toom…. and I found my “Hand Me Down” blocks which made me smile. I la,la,love playing with all the shirting colors and how each block is unique.
Yours looks so nice too – don’t forget to maybe throw in an occasional solid into the mix as it really brings the blocks to life ;)
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
Jo, it looks as if you did match your plaids! You know I read on someone’s blog that their 2011 challenge was to make quilts without a star…can you imagine that? Sandi
I love these blocks too…I can’t wait for my books to come come, I have ordered both!!
They look great! I need to get the rest of my shirts cut up too.
Gorgeous blocks!!
