What I’m Working On….

These days we are putting LOTS of time into the house or into things that are related to the house.  In fact, on the 4th I stopped and made 4 suppers for us and put them in the freezer with a plan to serve them in the upcoming week on days when we are so busy and I don’t have time to cook.

I have sneaked in a little sewing time and I truly mean sneaked.

Long ago when Bonnie Hunter had a “spool block challenge” I joined in.  I planned to make as many as I could and then wait for her book More Adventures with Leaders and Enders to come out to see the setting she made with hers.  Well I sewed and sewed on them doing them mostly in the typical leader and ender style making one or two at a setting.  Once I had 309 I decided to stop and wait to check out the layout once I had the book in my hands…

Well the book arrived and showed the design.  I liked it and wanted to go with making it….only problem I need 648 spool blocks.  UGH.  It was back to sewing for me.  I didn’t even have half the number I needed.

Well Saturday night I stayed up late and made the last 50 blocks.

Then Sunday I managed to sew four block sets together.  Slowly I am tackling this quilt.  I have truly worked on it in between other projects and it is starting to feel like I have been working on it for forever.

If we weren’t working on the house so much I know I would just put everything aside and dive into this quilt head fist but alas…we do have the house to work on and I don’t  have lots of extra time so slow and steady it is.  Sometimes it’s okay to be the tortoise rather than the hare.

Check out what others are working on at Patchwork Times.

  1. My current L&E is 9 patch blocks for Tumalo Trail, which is the quilt my son requested. I used shirt parts I bought from you on a Garage Sale Saturday in it. I keep telling myself every little bit helps! I have the spools quilt on my UFO list or bucket list, not sure which! :)

  2. I think you’ve been a very fast tortoise! I really need to get myself together and start a leader/ender project. I actually have the perfect project in mind!
