What I’m Working On….

Well I am stepping out of my box and working on two projects that aren’t necessarily me.

Our daughter Kayla brought a quilt home two weeks ago and asked that I quilt it for her.  It’s a modern quilt so I wasn’t super excited at the prospect.  She’ll be back home in a couple weeks so I decided I better get it quilted.  We’ll it’s on the frame and I started….

Quilt-1

This has really surprised me but I actually very much like working on this style of quilt.  So far, so good….I am hoping Kayla doesn’t mind the quilting.  She didn’t really direct me.  She just said quilt it.

Quilt-2

I am hoping to have it done soon so I can show it off.  Let’s just say, the straight edge ruler and I have gotten close.

The other thing I am working on is Kelli’s double wedding ring quilt.

DoubleWeddingRing

I am working really hard on getting the melons sewn but stopped to just sew a couple “blocks” together.  With the pattern the curves are a little more boxy and there is much less background.  So far, I love it…enough that I am worried that there will be more of these quilts that I’ll have to sew.

That’s what’s going on here.  I have a STACK of quilts that need to see the quilting frame…a couple are dead line projects and I have to keep at them….but that wedding quilt needs attention too!!!

  1. Your Double Wedding Ring quilt is going to be beautiful. I love the dark blue background. I would not have thought of using that until I saw the quilt you made for your son. Lovely.

  2. JO, your quilting is wonderful on Kayla’s quilt! Kelly’s wedding ring is coming along nicely. Years ago I bought the template and took a class to make a double wedding ring as I always loved the pattern. After making 1 block, I decided that I would never make it.

  3. I love the dark background. I saw one with a brown background and I thought it was amazing too. I may have to put that pattern on my bucket list after all.

  4. I love the scrappy bright colours and dark background you’ve chosen for your double wedding ring project. I’ve only made one, as a table runner, in very controlled colours. I think you have inspired me to add another to my project list!

  5. My Bucket list quilt you are working on there. I have never made a DWR. One day I will. Interesting to see it in bold fabrics, not 30’s or pastels. Have fun quilting. What kind of Frame and Machine are you quilting with?

  6. You’re doing a great job on that modern quilt Jo! I love what I can see of it so far :*) And the wedding quilt is going to be amazing – love the scrappy beauty of it with that steadying deep blue in the background!!!
