I just finished up listening to the audio book Water from My Heart: A Novel by Charles Martin.
I told you MANY times how much I like this author..and after reading this book. Â I still can say he’s one of my favorites. Â In most of his books someone was astray and finds their way to a good life. Â This book was no different…the main, Charlie, is a drug runner. Â The story is interesting and kept my attention.
If I were to compare this author to others I would say he’s much like Nicholas Sparks.
My favorite part of the book is the last chapter where Martin explains his own real life experience and how he came to write the book.
Here’s what Amazon had to say, “Charlie Finn had to grow up fast, living alone by age sixteen. Highly intelligent, he earned a life-changing scholarship to Harvard, where he learned how to survive and thrive on the outskirts of privileged society. That skill served him well in the cutthroat business world, as it does in more lucrative but dangerous ventures he now operates off the coast of Miami. Charlie tries to separate relationships from work. But when his choices produce devastating consequences, he sets out to right wrongs, traveling to Central America where he will meet those who have paid for his actions, including a woman and her young daughter. Will their fated encounter present Charlie with a way to seek the redemption he thought was impossible–and free his heart to love one woman as he never knew he could?Charlie Finn had to grow up fast, living alone by age sixteen. Amazon readers give it 4.9 stars. Â I would agree. Â I have one more book of his to read and then I will have read them all…I sure hope Martin keeps writing because I’ll miss his stories if he doesn’t.
After reading your recommendation of this author, I read A mountain between us. It was very good, good enough to recommend the author to our local librarian. She had not heard of him, so she ordered Water from the heart and I am about half way through. So far, it’s really good.
Thanks for adding another author to my reading lineup.
