After I listened to the book Never Let You Go: A Novel by Chevy Stevens, I decided to check my online library and see if they offered any more of books by the same author. They did. I found Those Girls: A Novel. I put it on my hold list and happily it didn’t take to long to get it. I started it as soon as I got it.
I liked the book as I have all of the books by this author that I’ve read. This one was no different. There is quite a bit of abuse both physical and sexual in the book. I don’t like to hear that part much so being I’m on an audio book I raise the speed that the book is being read at. That way I can hurry through it. It’s not terrible though. The rest of the book makes up for it.
Here’s what Amazon has to say:“Life has never been easy for the three Campbell sisters. Jess, Courtney, and Dani live on a remote ranch in western Canada where they work hard and try to stay out of the way of their father’s temper. One night, a fight gets out of hand and the sisters are forced to go on the run, only to get caught in an even worse nightmare when their truck breaks down in a small town. As events spiral out of control, they find themselves in a horrifying situation and are left with no choice but to change their names and create new lives.
Eighteen years later, they are still trying to forget what happened that summer. But when one of the sisters goes missing, followed closely by her niece, they are pulled back into the past. And this time there’s nowhere left to run.
With Those Girls Chevy Stevens presents her most visceral thriller yet: an unforgettable portrait of desperation, loyalty, and evil. A story of survival…and revenge.”
Amazon readers give the book 4.3 stars. I’d likely agree. I’m off to see if the online library has any more offerings by Stevens. She’s a good suspense/thriller writer.
I think I read that a long time ago. the abuse wasn’t that bad, it was a GOOD book though.
