I blog reader recommended a book. It was The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave. I went to my online library and looked to see if my library had the book. Funny…I already had it on the waitlist. I thought that was funny. Anyway, my turn for the book finally came.
I listened to the book over the course of 2 1/2 days. I stitched one night and listened to the book vs watching television. That’s an indication that I liked the book!
I really did like the book a lot. For the most part, a guy disappears and his wife works to find out why. The book takes place in the present day but there are quick flashbacks here and there that add to the story.
Here’s what Amazon had to say:
“Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother.
As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was. And that Bailey just may hold the key to figuring out Owen’s true identity—and why he really disappeared.
Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth. But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen’s past, they soon realize they’re also building a new future—one neither of them could have anticipated.
With its breakneck pacing, dizzying plot twists, and evocative family drama, The Last Thing He Told Me is a riveting mystery, certain to shock you with its final, heartbreaking turn.”
Amazon readers gave the book 4.3 stars. Oh my. I was surprised with that rating as I really liked the book. I’d give it 4.6 stars.

When I was writing this review I found she has two other books available through my online library. I’m off to put them on the hold list. Thanks so much to the reader who suggested this book. I love when you all suggest books.
Sounds like a very interesting book. Another one to put on my to read list.
I read this book last week and I could not put it down. I thought that it was REALLY good, one of the best books that I have read recently.
I was going to add this book to my library list but found that it’s already there! Four week wait.
Excellent Book! loved it well written, good story line….. decided to read some of her other books too, didn’t like them….not as good a plot line as this one. I guess we improve w attempts.
Haha, I just put this on my hold list. I’m #770 for 113 books at my local library! I guess it will be a while. Good thing I have others on my list to read. I am reading one way out of my usual style. It is called Woke, Inc., Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam by Vivek Ramaswamy. I have to admit, I don’t often read things like this, but it is a book that will really make you think.
