I just finished listening the audio book The Good Daughter: A Novel by Karin Slaughter.  I have LONG loved this author and am especially fond of her series about Will Trent.  Not to long ago she wrote a novel that wasn’t in the Will Trent series Pretty Girls and was so-so disappointed.  This book is also not part of the Will Trent series so I was REALLY nervous about this book.
So I ended up really liking the book. Â The characters were memorable. Â The story was good and had depth to it. Â I guessed the ending early on but was very content to read to the end to make sure my guess was right.
I’ve read every Karin Slaughter book to date and although I’ve had trouble with a two of them, they still continue to be my favorite crime novels. Â If you’ve not read her books I highly recommend them.
Here’s what Amazon had to say:“Two girls are forced into the woods at gunpoint. One runs for her life. One is left behind…
Twenty-eight years ago, Charlotte and Samantha Quinn’s happy small-town family life was torn apart by a terrifying attack on their family home. It left their mother dead. It left their father — Pikeville’s notorious defense attorney — devastated. And it left the family fractured beyond repair, consumed by secrets from that terrible night.
Twenty-eight years later, and Charlie has followed in her father’s footsteps to become a lawyer herself — the ideal good daughter. But when violence comes to Pikeville again — and a shocking tragedy leaves the whole town traumatized — Charlie is plunged into a nightmare. Not only is she the first witness on the scene, but it’s a case that unleashes the terrible memories she’s spent so long trying to suppress. Because the shocking truth about the crime that destroyed her family nearly thirty years ago won’t stay buried forever…”
Amazon readers give the book 4.5 stars. Â I would totally agree. Â The book was really good. Â I would be happy if this book would become a series….it was that good and the characters were great!
I will add this to my read list. Just finished A Stranger in the House. Very good book
I just finished this book last week. Thought it was pretty good. Will have to check out her other crime novels.
Just read a WW11 book the Devouring by James R. Benn. I have also read the Blue Madonna by him. Some interesting history in the deceive stories. There are other books about the same Billy Boyle.
Don’t think I’ve read any Karen Slaughter. Sounds good.
