What I’m Reading: Last Breath

I just finished up listening to the audio book Last Breath by Karin Slaughter.  I am a HUGE Karin Slaughter fan.  I’ve read all of her books and only didn’t like one.

Last Breath (Kindle Single) by [Slaughter, Karin]
I really am a huge fan.  It started long ago when I read her book Triptych.  From there I grabbed everything she wrote and continue on so that if there is a new release…I ALWAYS get it.

This book happens to be a novella.  That’s always a little disappointing as I want a WHOLE book because I don’t want it all to end….but alas, it was a novella or “single” as Amazon calls them.  If you are a Kindle reader the book is available for only 99 cents.   It’s is definitely more than 99 cents worth of enjoyment!

If you’re a Karin Slaughter reader you know that she’s big in the sequels and prequels so I thought I should tell you that this book in the PREQUEL to The Good Daughter.  That book got 4.5 stars from Amazon readers.

Here’s what Amazon had to say about this book:
At the age of thirteen, Charlie Quinn’s childhood came to an abrupt and devastating end. Two men, with a grudge against her lawyer father, broke into her home—and after that shocking night, Charlie’s world was never the same.

Now a lawyer herself, Charlie has made it her mission to defend those with no one else to turn to. So when Flora Faulkner, a motherless teen, begs for help, Charlie is reminded of her own past, and is powerless to say no.

But honor-student Flora is in far deeper trouble than Charlie could ever have anticipated. Soon she must ask herself: How far should she go to protect her client? And can she truly believe everything she is being told?”

Amazon readers gave this book 4.2 stars.  Reading through the reviews they seemed to not like that it was a novella and others said there were a few spelling errors (goodness knows with all the spelling and grammar errors I’m not going to judge anyone on that!)  in the book.  None of these things bothered me so I’d give it 4.4 stars.
