What I’m Reading: I Was Here

I just finished listening to the audio book I Was Here by Gayle Forman.

Initially I put the book on my library holds list because I read two previous books by this author and very much enjoyed both of them. This is considered juvenile fiction but don’t let that scare you away. It’s still good. The book held my attention and kept me wanting to find out what was going to happen. About 3/4 of the way through the book it slowed but it was just a short couple chapters and then it came back.

Here’s what Amazon had to say about the book, “When her best friend, Meg, commits suicide by drinking a bottle of industrial-strength cleaner alone in a motel room, Cody is understandably shocked and devastated. She and Meg shared everything—so how did she miss the signs of Meg’s depression? But when Cody travels to Meg’s college town to pack up the belongings left behind, she discovers that there’s a lot that Meg never told her. About her old roommates, the sort of people Cody never would have met in her dead-end small town in Washington. About Ben McAllister, the boy with a guitar and a sneer, and some secrets of his own. And about an encrypted computer file that Cody can’t open—until she does, and suddenly everything Cody thought she knew about her best friend’s death gets thrown into question.”

Amazon readers say 4.2 stars…I’d have to agree. I liked the book but did like the other two books of hers that I read just a little bit better. If you haven’t read a book by this author, give If I Stay a try. I liked that one better…and it has a sequel to it that I also liked very much.
