I just finished up the audio book, Little Britches: Father and I Were Ranchers by Ralph Moody. This is a true story so that’s a plus right there.
Way back in high school our English teacher had read this book to us and I remember really liking it. When I saw that it was available in audio book so I decided to give it a try again. Happily, I liked it again.
The writing style is real at ease. The descriptions are very good and I felt like I could image and see what the author was depicting. I love seeing how life was then and how life is now.
Amazon readers must have liked it too as it it rated a five stars book! Here’s Amazon’s description, “The Moody family moves from New Hampshire to a Colorado ranch. Experience the pleasures and perils of ranching in 20th Century America, through the eyes of a youngster.” Trust me, the book is more that the description.
I see that there is a second book..well actually a series. On Amazon they call this the “Little House on the Prairie for boys”. I am putting myself on the waiting list for book two, Man of the Family.
Here is the book version Little Britches: Father and I Were Ranchers and here is the Kindle verion Little Britches: Father and I Were Ranchers
if you are interested.
I read this whole series of books a few years ago. It is fascinating to see all that this boy accomplished as a teen, and it’s a true story! Time to get them from the library again – good summer reading!
Yep! Great books! Read these aloud when the kids were little and we all loved them! Classics!
Thanks for the book suggestion. Just yesterday I was thinking that I needed to find some good audio books to listen to this summer while I drive back and forth to the camp where my husband works.
