I’ve been flying through audio books lately. Partly because I haven’t had kids home the last couple weekends and partly because I am still not excited about television. I keep hoping some type of program will catch my interest but alas..nothing does so I am working my way through a big download of audio books.
I just finished up “Don’t Go” by Lisa Scottoline.
This is not an earth shaking amazing book…but it is a good book…a little mystery…a little who dun it…a little family..and little war hero. It’s great to listen to when working on the quilting machine because I don’t have to concentrate on the book as it isn’t overly heavy.
Here’s what Amazon has to say about it, “Bestselling author Lisa Scottoline has thrilled millions with her emotionally-charged novels that feature strong women exploring the boundaries of family, justice, and love. In Don’t Go, she breaks new ground and delivers the story of a soldier who discovers what it means to be a man, a father, and ultimately, a hero.
When Dr. Mike Scanlon is called to serve as an army doctor in Afghanistan, he’s acutely aware of the dangers he’ll face and the hardships it will cause his wife Chloe and newborn baby. And deep inside, he doesn’t think of himself as a warrior, but a healer.
However, in an ironic turn of events, as Mike operates on a wounded soldier in a war-torn country, Chloe dies at home in the suburbs, in an apparent household accident. Devastated, he returns home to bury her, only to discover that the life he left behind has fallen apart. His medical practice is in jeopardy, and he is a complete stranger to the only family he has left – his precious baby girl. Worse, he learns a shocking secret that sends him into a downward spiral.
Ultimately, Mike realizes that the most important battle of his life faces him on the home front and he’ll have to put it all on the line to save what’s dearest to him – his family. Gripping, thrilling, and profoundly emotional, Don’t Go is Lisa Scottoline at her finest.”
I have read several other books by this author and this one is in the same style. Amazon gives Don’t Go four stars and I would agree.
Good to know. I’ve seen it in my library list several times. I am an audio book-a-holic. TV does not interest me in the least, with the exception of an occasional movie here and there on a quiet, stormy day.
I love audio books too. I listen to them at work, rather than the rradio. I favor murder mysteries. Anyways, I would just like to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving Day. I so enjoy your blog and have learned so much. Even more you and your quilts inspire me. Thank You!!!
