I took some time this week to clean out my MP3 player and get rid of the books I had read. Â While I was there, I made a list of books that I had tried but didn’t really catch my attention. Â I was just going to delete them but then I though before I do, I am going to see if any of you had read them and if they were worth my time.
The first book I thought of deleting is Tell the Wolves I’m Home: A Novel by Carol Rifka Brunt.
I’ve listened to about 2 parts of this via audio book. Â So far, nothing has caught my attention. Â Nothing has screamed this will be a good book. Â It’s written about the time of the AIDS epidemic. Â It’s about a big city family…all things that haven’t touch my world and I’m having a bit of trouble relating to them. Â Amazon readers list it as a wonderful book giving it 4.4 stars. Â Am I missing something?? Â Should I just delete it??
The second book I thought of deleting is The Silent Wife: A Novel by A. S. A. Harrison.
This book, as far as I got, seems to be all about a completely unhealthy marriage. Â He’s cheating on her..she’s putting up with it. Â Again I am about two parts into listening to the audio book and it doesn’t have me caught. Â The book is something I don’t relate to-cheating spouses-big city living. Â Amazon readers say 3.6 stars and compare it to Gone Girl which is a book about similar topics but I at least liked that book. Â Unless someone comments and tells me to keep listening, this one is going in the delete file section.
The other book I thought of deleting is actually on my Kindle..it’s The Good Daughters: A Novel by Joyce Maynard.
I am 1/4 of the way into the book….so far, I’ve decided that it’s a little slow and honestly, I am not into reading about people exploring lesbian feelings. Â I don’t know if that’s just a chapter or just one scene but I’m kind of hesitant to continue on. Â I liked the author’s book Labor Day…this one, not nearly as much. Â Amazon readers say 4 stars though. Â Any opinions on this one??
So blog readers…help me out. Â Are any of these worth a second consideration before I hit the delete button??
Stick with Tell the Wolves I’m Home! It starts slowly, but my whole book club loved it.
Delete them. Life is short and there are many books.
Haven’t read any of those, but read Gone Girl this week and LOVED it. And I am not a murder/thriller/mystery kind of girl! I know this comment doesn’t help you at all with the three books; it is hard to decide if you should continue on or dump a book.
