What I’m Making: Snickers Brownies

I was on Facebook the other day and saw a recipe for Snickers Brownies.  I looked at the recipe.  I thought about my own brownie recipe and then decided to just adapt my recipe to be Snickers Brownies.

The recipe was more or less brownies with chopped Snickers candy bars added…then caramel and nuts on top.  They made theirs in a cast iron skillet.  I decided I would try that.

Here is my brownie recipe:

2 sticks of softened butter
2 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa

Mix together, put in a greased pan and bake for 22 minutes.

I added a cup of chopped Snickers and baked them.  At 22 minutes they didn’t seem done.  I ended up taking them out at 28 minutes.

I drizzled them with my favorite… caramel sauce, Grazing Goat Vanilla Caramel.  They are a local family that raises goats and makes the BEST caramel.  You can find their website HERE.

Then the original recipe called for sprinkling chopped peanuts on top.

It also said to add whipped cream.  I topped if off with more Caramel sauce.

Here it is all ready to eat.

So what did I think…
Next time (there will be a next time) I will not bother with adding the candy bars to the batter as I couldn’t really taste them in the batter.  I would put the Candy bar pieces on top as more of a garnish.  I won’t make them in the cast iron pan and instead, make them in a regular cake pan.

There was no problem getting these gone!!  I think they will be even better if I just tweak the recipe a little bit.

  1. The candy that really is good as a layer in brownies is Reese’s PB cups. Put about half the brownies batter in, add a layer of PB cups (I usually quarter them), then dab on the remaining batter and bake. They tend to take a couple minutes more to bake this way. These are a hit in every college care package I’ve put them in.

  2. Do you use all purpose or self rising flour? Been looking for a good homemade brownie recipe. Can’t wait to try yours!

  3. I think brownies are good no matter what! Snickers sound good with brownies as does the peanut butter cups – yummy!
