A while back, Rick had sent a reel to me. It was someone who had taken a cinnamon roll recipe and taken it a notch higher. They added peaches and struesel on top of the rolls.
I didn’t have a recipe…I just guessed.
I made my normal cinnamon roll recipe. When it was ready, I rolled it out, added the brown sugar and butter with just a touch of cinnamon…it was probably just 1/8 teaspoon vs the typical two teaspoons I usually use. Then I chopped up peaches into small pieces and put them on over the brown sugar/cinnamon/sugar layer.

I cut and rolled them up. I flattened the rolls a bit. Then I chopped another peach and put the pieces on top of the rolls.

I made a stuesel and put that over the top of the rolls. YUM. They look good already.

When they came out of the oven, I drizzled a little bit of frosting over the top. Oh my word. These were so good.

Rick said to me, “Woman, where have you been hiding that recipe?” Seriously, they were about the best fruit-flavored treat that I’ve ever made…and I didn’t really have a recipe.
I think that we sometimes are too dependent on a recipe. Sometimes the best things come from simply putting variations on good recipes we already have.

I like to make french toast. After the toast is done, I melt some butter and add brown sugar and stir till it’s blended, then add sliced peaches and lightly cook the peaches and serve on top of the french toast. Now I’m thinking pecans or whipped cream or ice cream would take it over the top!
I just finished a fresh Michigan peach which was so yummy so I can imagine how yummy those rolls are. I am very dependent on recipes, but once in awhile I will step out of my comfort zone, but more likely to do that with a main dish.
These cinnamon rolls sound delicious, I’ll have to give them a try while peaches are still in season. I do something similar with diced apples. Those are a delicious variation also.
Ok Jo, i am looking for your cinnamon roll recipe. Please share! Thanks!
WOW Jo! Those look fantastic!
They look great! I like the flavor of almond extract with peaches rather than cinnamon, so I might give that a try.
Yum! These look amazing!
