My niece that I made the quilt for got married on Friday. Originally I thought Friday wedding….hmm. I don’t know if I like that idea. But- I ended up LOVING it. Having an extra day was awesome. Having it on Friday made the weekend much less rushed too. All in all a Friday wedding got two thumbs up from me.
Anyway…the wedding was outdoors and beautiful. I think Ariel, the bride, was going for simple but elegant look and man oh man, she nailed it. The weather was awesome. The venues were great.
Her husband Sam is a police officer so they did some fun things too. They had donuts instead of wedding cake. They had coffee for favors. It was just cute.
It was so fun. They had a live band that were great entertainers too.
Ariel’s wedding was such a HUGE contrast to Kalissa’s. Ariel’s- natural, outdoors, no flowers but lots of greenery, a understated elegance…Kalissa’s – all glitz and bling. I have to say that I very much enjoyed each and didn’t realize how much decor can really show a couple’s personality. I think seeing the contrast really made it so.
Best of all, all my kids were able to attend. Here’s the Kramer clan. It’s just a casual picture but I like it. Around the table are (starting on the left) Kalissa and Craig, Kelli and Jason, our son Buck, then Karl in the middle back, then Spencer (Kayla’s husband) and Jen (Buck’s wife) then Kayla, Hubby and me.
As always, I didn’t get enough time to visit. I didn’t even get around to all of my extended family. It’s so hard. Although my kids were all home just a bit ago for Kalissa’s wedding I didn’t get a chance to talk to them about them. Everything was focused on the wedding. I miss seeing them all so I spent a good chunk of time visiting them.
Luckily Hubby got to talk to a few of them so on the car ride home Hubby and I exchanged notes to see who he talked to and what was new with them…and who I talked to. It’s a danger of having a larger family….I am thankful for it though. I am so glad we had five kids and so glad we do have a large extended family even when I don’t get a chance to talk to them much.
So September is soon over and with that, wedding season for my side of the family is coming to a close.
Congrats to Ariel and Sam and we couldn’t be happier for the two of you.
