Weekend at the Kramers

Some of the kids were home over the weekend. Buck’s family came, Kalissa’s family came, Kelli’s family came, and Karl did too.

The weekend started with a football game for Carver.

Rick didn’t go. The other kids were coming later that day, and he had homework. If you look, Carver is number 20 in the huddle. They played a good team and wound up with a tied game. I really do love watching him play.

After that, I went home…and a short time after, Buck and his family showed up.

Lucy was WAY into cross stitch this time.

Oh to be young and be able to sit like this…cross legged on a bar stool!! HA!

She finished her piece.

If you have a granddaughter or someone in your life who would like to cross stitch, Amazon has these great kits that are pre-stamped. This is the one I bought.

You can find it HERE. There are others to choose from. I ended up ordering a set with pets on it for Lucy for her birthday. You can find that HERE.

Lucy is going to be 9 years old, and this is perfect for her. She tried when she had just turned 8 and struggled a bit. At almost nine, she can do it herself.

Here is her finish!!

I was slow on getting pictures from the weekend. I ended up giving my phone to Emmett and had him take pictures.

He caught the kids playing outside on Sunday.

The kids were outside much of the time they were here.

He caught the adults playing games…It’s Kelli, Lindsay (Buck’s girlfriend), Scotty, and Buck.

They were playing Patchwork, a family favorite. You can find it HERE.

He caught Rick at the computer. Rick is doing great with his EMT classes, but the computer side of things is a bit of a struggle. Kelli has been an amazing help and support for him. He was busy finding something he needed Kelli’s help with.

She’s shown him where to find things and how to upload documents. I’m very thankful for her support. Rick is too. He often tells me how much he appreciates her help. Karl has been helpful too.

I didn’t get nearly as many pictures as I had hoped to get. That’s okay. That typically means I’m too busy being involved with what was going on!! That’s always a good thing.

  1. Looks like you had a lovely family weekend! Time together, creative time and some study. Everyone did what they wanted and can help each other.

  2. Thanks for the tip on where to find those simple cross stitches for kids! My grandson is 5 and spent over an hour helping me pull the needle up and down on one of my pieces. Spending that much time on one task for any kid that age is amazing! I’ve wanted to find a piece that could be his own to work on. Thanks again!

  3. What a great weekend. Lucy’s handwork is so perfect. It seems like everyone had a good time at Grandma’s. I remember quite a while back when Buck was first working on his house that you mentioned he was going to have a plant room. Did it happen? Can we get an update?

  4. Wow!!!!!!! GREAT handwork. Looks like shellbe continuing the family hobby!!! SO SO happy for you/her. Next, yo your frame shop for her next skill set!!!

  5. I love the tee shirt that Lucy is wearing in the photos! And the outdoor play scape is pretty great! I think it would hold kids’ interest for years. Cheers for Rick and his studies. Happy family times.

By the way, the Peregrin Stitcher just completed the Blackbird 9 pattern piece you are working on. It is her latest flosstube and it is gorgeous!

  6. Family time is how memories are made, even doing simple things. Nice to have a warm day for playing outside, winter is coming.

  7. I love your posts about the family weekends, and I love that the kids are growing up with lots of outdoor time, fresh air and sunshine. Sadly, a lot of kids around here don’t get that unless they are involved in organized sports. And then there were the two girls in my daughter’s scout troop who said, “Ewww, do we have to TOUCH the dirt? What if we find a worm?” when they were planting trees for a community project. I know there are lots of school age children around because I often get stuck in traffic behind a school bus, but I seldom hear the children playing outside in their beautifully manicured yards. I guess some families just stress different activities – indoor or organized activities. (Yes, I’m old, and, yes, I’m one of those who “went home when the street lights came on.” My parents probably would have been horrified if they knew half of what we did, but we had fun and stayed out of trouble. ;-)
