Uncommonplace: Hokah, Minnesota

There are good things and bad things about going to the doctor in Lacrosse…the drive isn’t fun but if I plan appointments for Fridays I can stop at Uncommonplace in Hokah.  I love the store and have told you about it before.  It’s my favorite place for hand crafted goodies and vintage ideas galore.

Here’s an idea the owner of the store is showing me that I think my daughter Kayla would love.  See the spoon rack?  She is going to use it as a handkerchief display.  See how the handkerchiefs can be held in the spoon rack?  CUTE!!

That makes me want to start a handkerchief collection.  Here’s another cute idea she had with vintage plates and handkerchiefs.

She has fun unique jewelry there.  It’s fun and eclectic.  I love these time mold “wind chimes”.  I know these won’t ring so Hubby might not mind these.

Check out the door with the bingo magnets and domino magnets.  LOVE-LOVE-LOVE.  They are cute and for me, practical too.  I think the childcare kids would love playing with the dominoes on the refrigerator counting and matching dots.

uncommonplace-4 She has a wonderful talent for display and eye for putting things together.  I love this repurposed drawer…and the photos with the road signs.  They spell Calidonia, a close local town to the shop.

I love the mittens and especially love the ones with the Minnesota cut out on them.  SO DARLING!!  Remember, I’m originally a Minnesota girl.

I loved these too…

I like how this ladder was turned and attached to the wall.  What a cute shelf idea.

Love the frame…..

What a cute display of little glass makeup containers.

Sewing goodies…I always love them.

I love the cute Wisconsin pillow.  I teased and said, it should be Iowa, then was told that Iowa is a boring shape.  HA!!  It kind of is..especially if comparing to Minnesota or Wisconsin.  I’ll give the states that…other than that, I’ll claim Iowa.

There are all sort of vintage quilts.  I just had a short time spend money shop.

I liked this picture “Love Reigns”…how true!

uncommonplace-15

The deal was everything in the basement was on sale…check out these fun string art projects.  I heard string art is coming back and hot on the vintage markets….

uncommonplace-16

There was fabric to explore.  It’s super cheap….I didn’t have time.

uncommonplace-18

Check out the cute owl pillow.  uncommonplace-19

There are so many fun things in the shop.  The goodies are always changing.  I did buy a couple things…want to see?I bought some silly things…The little chickens are the ones that an egg can get stuffed into.  I’m letting the childcare kids play with them.  Right now I have plastic eggs in the sand and water table.  I’ll put these with and let them practice sliding the eggs in and out.

I love the little artsy trivets.  I did a little research and plan to make them with my childcare kiddos….and the owl necklace….I’m in love with it!  I’ve always had a thing about liking owls.  I appreciate that it’s on a long chain.

I can’t say enough good things about Uncommonplace in Hokah, Minnesota.  The little shop really is a big booster for me when I have to go to the doctor’s in Lacrosse.  Just knowing I can stop makes the day seem not so bad.  If you’re road tripping around the Lacrosse area, stop.  You’ll be glad you did!

  1. What a cute shop, thanks for sharing. The next time I pass thru Lacrosse I will have to check it out. Lacrosse is a great place to get apples in the fall.

I would like to see how you make the trivets also! What a cute shop with lots of creative things.
