I was feeling a little sad that I haven’t finished many quilts lately. Then I decided I would sit down at the computer and pull up my quilt finishes for the year to hopefully motivate me or redeem myself. I wasn’t sure what it would do. I usually do an update mid-year here on the blog so I thought I would share my progress with you.
At the beginning of the year, this is what the island looked like.
It looks about the same now… just different projects are prominent.
One of my first finishes was my Wizard of Oz quilts. This started from blocks from the thrift store.
I finished the mystery quilt…
I had these blocks…
and they became this quilt…
These are two quilt tops that were gifted to me by a blog reader.
I finished them…
This is a UFO from a blog reader. I would like to finish it and donate it. I have touched this long enough to know I’ll have to make quite a few more blocks. The fabric is pulled. I haven’t touched this one…
I haven’t touched these either…well, I made more triangles.
The same is true for my for my tiny nine-patch quilt from last year.
I had a bunch of leftover star blocks that needed attention.

Emerald City is finished…This one was also a UFO, a blog reader sent to me. This one needed machine time.

It’s a top now…
I need to get it longarmed.
I used the leftovers and made this baby quilt.
I finished my Train Tracks quilt.
I finished that…
I also took leftovers from the Train Tracks quilt and made this smaller top…
This one will be featured in American Patchwork and Quilting in the future.
Here are leftover pieces from last year’s donation quilt. I sewed them into four-patches.
I have made good progress on this. I have to make the letters, and then I’ll have a John Deere quilt top made.

I had leftover bonus triangles from last year’s mystery quilt.

It’s finished!! Kelli helped me get the top together.
These two projects were hanging on the sewing room door.
I finished the cat quilt…Darn, I can’t find a picture of it.

I finished this community quilt. I just did the longarming and binding.

I have my Midnight Flight quilt in progress.
I have my 50 cent quilt top on the frame…
I have this quilt started too…Dawn’s Early Light.
My Bow Tie quilt is mostly a top. It needs maybe one more border.
…and don’t forget Anders’ preschool quilt…
I’ve had about a month to work on everything. I’d say I’m doing pretty well.

That sure made me feel better. I have done a lot of quilting this year. I made leaps of progress in the Spring…it’s slowed this summer, but I’m doing awesome for the year.
Jo-You always amaze me with your life productivity! Not only do you cook and bake, but cross stitch, host your grand children and family frequently, and also manage to get over twenty quilts done in half a year! You keep your house up, your love happy, read, follow sports, and have fun fishing too! You are a wonderful friend, community and family member! I don’t know how you manage to squeeze so much out of the same 24 hr. days I am given! I consider you something of a super woman! SERIOUSLY! You are sweet and generous too! Impressive accomplishments year to date. It’s good to stop and take note periodically as one can easily lose track of how much has been completed.
The quilt for Anders turned out so cute! That will be a sure comfort during naptime at school for him.

That’s fantastic! I wish I had made half that progress. I haven’t finished anything since January. When my longarm acts up and I can’t figure out the problem, I hit a brick wall. I have 13 tops waiting to be quilted, which is 1 more than I allow myself to be pending. So, it slows down my top making drastically, because I get overwhelmed with too many pending tops. I need a longarm fairy or I need to figure out how to hand quilt them.

Give yourself a big pat on the back Jo, you have done wonderfully! Your quilts are beautiful. Please allow yourself time to enjoy life with Rick, children and grandchildren. Or just sit and rest.

Wow! You did an amazing job! I love the scrappy 16 patch, star quilt. I’m going to do it with all of my 2.5 leftovers.

You did great!! Fifteen finishes is an awesome amount and it is only the eighth month of the year. Each and every quilt is beautiful!
You put us all to shame. You surpass what I’ve done this year. I have a top ready to go as soon as I can get backing and batting together it’s going to longarmer. It’s one that drove me up the wall. I guess at the age of 81 doing a maze quilt was not a good idea. It was just two blocks; 5 of one, 4 of the other. But I would get blocks lined up and then sew it wrong. I did more ripping than my entire history of sewing! lolo Something about those blocks just got to me! lol

Considering your health issues, your new romance, and the care of the grandkids, that is an amazing list of finishes! Also, you don’t do what I call “easy” quilts so they don’t go together fast…glad you’re taking time to fish! (I”ll pass on the marshmallow cream with sweet potato fries also!)

Wow! I can’t believe what you get done when you think you aren’t getting much done! And the year is only half done! I’d be absolutely thrilled to get that done in a year.
You accomplished a whole lot more than you realized. Beautiful finishes. The quilt projects that people send to you and you finish – do they ask you first or just send them? I have one that I have about given up on. I just can’t wrap my head around it. It is a blue & grey version of the Quilted Twins Old World Fantasy MQAL that was given to me and I am feeling guilty that it isn’t done yet.
