UFO Progress

Those charity quilts are still taking up most of my time.  I did manage to get the string blocks that my childcare kiddos were helping me de-paper trimmed to size and cut.

Now all the cream ones are finished and believe it or not, I started sewing the brown blocks.  Check them out…

It’s been so fun to sew on these.  A good portion of the fabric I am using for these came from a garage sale.  I bought a box of mostly brown calico prints and a few cream prints for $1.  The fabric was all calico prints from the 70’s and 80’s.  I added some of my own brown prints and I’m loving the blocks.

These are for my Pfeffernuse quilt.

When I started working on UFOs back at the beginning of the summer this one was cut out and nothing more.

Then I was laid up with my foot I was able to get the hour glass blocks done….now it’s time for the rest of the string blocks.  I love sewing string blocks.

I have to admit when Bonnie Hunter said her next book, after this most recent one, was going to be a string book.  I was WAY happy.   Strings are great to use up fabric I no longer love.

You can find me back here on Wednesday.  My hope is to get the brown string blocks done but I really don’t think that will happen.  I have a Christmas present quilt to start working on and I still have more charity quilts to finish quilting.  So many quilts, so little time!!  I’m sure you can all relate.

  3. Pfeffernusse is on my WANT to list as well. I pushed Easy Street to the front burner, I have 14 blocks left to make and 12 triangles for the setting pieces left. All the parts are made and trimmed though. Possible snow day for Friday (please don’t let me have jinxed it) and I have cleaned house tonight, so I could sew ALL DAY. I loaded a baby quilt on the long arm and have plenty more in the wings ready to go. I am trying to do a deep clean in the sewing room as well before the mystery starts, but I am easily side tracked. :)
