Wednesday is my day to show off my UFO progress. Â On Monday I showed you that I’d been busy on my Winston Ways quilt. Â Then it was this far along.
I got some time and got the center together. Â WOW…I’m gonna love this one.
Then it was time to iron.
I loved it so much I squeezed in extra time and started in on the borders…I’m fighting for a finish.
..but I didn’t make it. Â I have the black inner border on…I even got the checkered inner border on.
That’s when my luck ran out. Â I don’t have any blue fabric for the outer border. Â If I lived in a town with a quilt shop that was open after hours I’d have ran to the store to get some..but alas…I live a half hour from anywhere and I’m only free to go on the weekends…so I’m off to Whittles Fabrics to find a good border fabric.
A blog reader laughed that I had so many projects going. Â I am tickled that I don’t have to wait around and wait for the fabric to come. Â I have many projects ready for me to step in and and work on. Â For now I think it will be some more work on Fair and Square…
Are you still working on UFO’s? Â I sure hope so. Â I don’t want to be the only one!! Â I have been thinking about it and I think starting on the day that Bonnie Hunter puts out her info on the new mystery, I’m going to push myself and see how many quilts I can finish up before the mystery starts….I’d really like to see a few of these finished! Â In the meantime, I’m going to keep working on them as time allows.
I am so envious of your quilt ~ Winston Ways is gorgeous! A keeper, Jo! Impressive that you’ve made such progress in such a short time! Pat yourself on the back!
This quilt is so pretty. You are making great progress on all of your quilts. Blessings!
It’s absolutely gorgeous! So much work, but refreshing to see when there are so many posts showcasing simpler designs for ‘quick and easy’! Not that I don’t indulge ;)! I am often working on At least one UFO but non as gorgeous as this! And like you, I have several projects going at once. I’m 1.5 hours away from the nearest quilt store, so my motto is always use what you have, or move on to something else! enjoy your day!
Beautiful ! I’m so impressed with all you have accomplished, inspite of your immobility. You are a wonder!
My first thought? This winter hubby needs to make you a bigboard! i bet there is scrap in the garage.
You did a great job on this quilt!!!!!
It is a beauty Jo, cant wait to see it all done. You are making real progress on your UFO’s
I pulled out Talkin’ Turkey again, but no pictures yet. It will be a while before this one is finished!
Beautiful top! I’m trying to finish up some UFOs also but they aren’t any Bonnie quilts. I’m looking forward to her mystery this year.
I have not heard of Whittle’s Fabric and just checked them out – great prices thanks for mentioning them.
Connecting Threads.com has a lot of fabric right no for $2.96 a yard right now. I order there fabric all the time.
I love this quilt. It’s certainly eye catching!
Love this one, Jo! I loved the stack of blocks, and now that they are sewn together, love it even more!! This is going to be an amazing quilt!
I always have many projects going at once….that way, I can easily work on whatever suits my mood for the day….I wouldn’t be able to function if I only worked on one project at a time!
Your quilts are always so amazing. I am working on finishing up a mystery that was in Quiltmaker last year. I also pulled out my Celtic Solstice and realized it is ready for quilting!! I will order batting today for it and hopefully have it finished before Bonnie’s mystery comes out. Putting borders on a couple of other quilts also.
I was recently thinking it was time to retire from quilting because time is not my friend while my husband and I are raising three grandsons, 10, 6 and 2-1/2. We 68 years old and its a busy life for us now. The two oldest are in soccer, so we run for practice and games. So I figured it was time to let the quilting go…but I was reading your posts and remembered how you cut things out, work on them when time does allow and saw how much you got done, I decided this is my way to stay connected to the “hobby” I love. Soooo, I’m going to cut out my projects, put them in containers and sew when time allows. Thanks for the idea it is greatly appreciated!
You picked a good one to move to almost finished!!!!! I have to wait until the quilter has time usually 4 months……. you are way ahead of me on quilting….. these days your quilt line is not as long as it once was. Great work Jo and thanks for showing us.
did you decide against a linky party?
I can add one…I didn’t know if anyone else wanted one. Look for one next week.
I really love this quilt. Is this pattern in Bonnie Hunter’s More Adventures with Leaders and Enders? Want to make sure before I buy it on Amazon and I figured your would know. It doesn’t let me look through the book to check what patterns are in it. Thanks for any help.
Yes. It is in More Adventures with Leaders and Enders….It’s a good book. I’ve made several of the quilts from the book already.
Please help me to understand what the term ufo has to do with quilt making lol.
UFO is a silly term quilters use for Unfinished Object…Typically they are projects that got set aside and forgotten.
I was planning on linking up, but I can do so next week. Thanks for continuing with your link up party, you inspired me to dig out one of my older ufo’s and go to work on it. I have the majority of the pieces made so it is a matter of making the blocks. I had finished two of my tops, one is quilted waiting on binding, one is being quilted now. Both will go to charity when finished.
Grand Illusion is NOW a quilt top! I am now trying to focus on putting Narragansett Blues and My Blue Heaven into top form. I will need to pull fabrics for the backing for Grand Illusion. I am totally excited about the motivation to finish more UFOs before Bonnie’s new mystery. . .this is keeping me going. I also have MULTIPLE projects going at all times. I am going to need to fire up the long arm machine!
Your Winston Ways quilt is just lovely, can’t wait to see it finished!
