My bum foot has been so good to me with having time to sew. Â I am so happy to have found an advantage to not being as mobile as I would like. Â Want to see what I accomplished?
THIS!!
This is Star Gazing. Â You can find the pattern in Bonnie Hunter’s book Scraps and Shirttails book one.
It came with it’s own set of problems. Â I originally added the border on like this….
BUT that was the wrong way. Â The pattern shows it attached like this….Notice the little neutral triangles are suppose to be inward not outward. Â UGH. Â I couldn’t decide if I should take the time and change it or leave it as is….
I took it off  and put them on according to the pattern.  I don’t think it was a big deal either way but in the end, I do think I like it slightly better with the neutral triangles inward.
I asked Hubby if he liked it or not. Â His response…”too much green.”
Look again….Do you see a lot of green? Â I know I purposely put some in but really??? Â Too much green??
Oh well. Â This one will probably be given away at some point. Â I very much like it but I’ve been keeping to many lately. Â I have backing for Star Gazing so it’s going in the “to be quilted” pile.
So what’s next in the UFO department for me….Well closest to the machine was…Zuckerwatte. Â It’s in Bonnie’s String Fling book. Â I had it all cut out and the white and pink triangles were sewn together. Â Now I am working on piecing the triangles together…then onto the string blocks.
I LOVE string blocks! Â I plan on hurrying through this so I can get stringing.
You’ll find me back here next week. By then I hope to be stringing away….
P.S. I am making TWO of these quilts at once so it might take me a little longer to tackle them.

love your quilt! really nice
I think your Star Gazing quilt is stunning. I quit asking my hubby his opinions of my quilts. As long as I’m happy with it, that’s all that matters.
“too much green.” hahahaha! That sounds just like something my hubby would say if he didn’t like my quilt. I, however, love your Star Gazing quilt. I like how the border turned out when you redid it — definitely worth the effort to make that change.
You are inspiring to us quilters in blog-land.
Jo, the quilt is so nice! I am glad you changed the border. It looks much better! Too much green??? I don’t see too much green at all. I may even try to do this pattern. Good work!
Since green is my favorite color, I do notice a lot of green in this quilt, more than you normally put in. I remember that the pattern in the book called for a triangle type setting instead of the four-patch at the intersections. It was quite different.
I recognize the name Zuckerwatte!! Two little girls picked out that quilt the day the book arrived at your house (I think.)
You do such beautiful work! I hope your foot is getting better fast!
Too much green?! It depends on which picture I look at, your sashing looks alternately green and brown on my monitor, so maybe Hubby sees it as all green?
So glad to see that PS, my first thought was that you had planned to make two of those Zuckerwatte quilts. So, you’re basically making a king size quilt! Wow!
Kelli’s post is not found so I can’t leave a comment about the blocks… please let her know OK?
I have never been to a retreat, but have always longed for an entire week-end devoted to just quilting
star gazing is beautiful although hard to findthe green!!!!!!!!!!!
no, i’ve never been to a quilt retreat, but it sounds like a piece of heaven, days to just quilt at a time…..
Too much green? pbbbbbtt!! There is just the right amount of all colors in your quilts. I think your colors combinations are great.
